Yen Vy Hotel and Apartment

The location is perfect

Unfortunately, we chose to stay here over Christmas and NY due to the positive rating and reviews and I have to be completely honest, this was the worst place we’ve stayed in since we left the U.K. in September. Do not book the apartment if your intention is to cook. They don’t provide any kitchen equipment. We had a bowl, chop sticks and a tea spoon. We ordered a takeaway and forgot to add cutlery to our order so I went to the desk to ask if I could borrow cutlery and I was told they don’t have any.. The bed was uncomfortable and I woke up with a sore back each day. The biggest let down though was the reception staff. They were rude and absolutely clueless. You could tell they didn’t want to be there and didn’t want to be bothered, counting down the minutes until they could go home. On the first day after we checked in, I asked the young guy if it would be possible to get 1 more pillow as you only get 2 and they’re really flat. He said he would bring one and that never happened. We had to go to the desk one day to ask for new towels and some toilet roll. He took a half used toilet roll off the desk infront of him which was obviously being used by staff and then picked two damp towels off the floor and sniffed them before passing them to us. The young girl was also unpleasant to deal with and barely looked up from the computer when we spoke to her. I’m usually not one to complain or it takes a lot for me to speak up but it only feels right to leave a review after out experience as I booked here on the basis of positive reviews..

Location. The room was clean and neat. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They aren’t fluent in English so I used google translate to communicate with them.

Nothing to dislike.

Cheap price. The location is ok if you want to be in the middle of the An Thuong area.

Hallway smelled like sewage. Room is not at all soundproof. Staff had very limited English. Room was not cleaned well and the kitchenette did not have much in the way of kitchenware.

No breakfast option. Location is great. Hotel is within walking distance of most major amenities like supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, spas and the beach. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, especially the receptionist Hang, who goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the guests are well looked after. There's a nice food stall only a few doors away, on the same street, that sells Vietnamese banh mi and drinks. Highly recommended. I usually get the pressed banh mi & freshly squeezed fruit juice for AUD$3.10.
