"We recommend."

Spacious room, decorated in a very kitsch style, with a very comfortable sofa and very good bedding. The rooms in building A overlook the surrounding countryside. A small lake with a lovely swimming beach is just 200m away.

"Very basic hotel stay, alright for one night if you aren't too picky"

5.0

We were looking for a cheap place to stay one night before going to the asuntomessu in Loviisa (after an afternoon in Kotka) so this place was a good price and in the correct area, though there really isn't much to see nearby (my wife walked to a lake and a shop within a kilometer). The room was a bit bigger than I expected - two single beds on opposite ends of the room with a short sofa between, and a sofa table. There was adequate storage for unpacking (though we didn't for this short stay). Everything was on the ground floor, with a porch door with outside table and chairs next to the parking. Parking was free and adequate (I don't think the hotel was full). The hotel was quite quiet and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was basic but everything there worked.

We received a text message in Finnish the same day giving two codes - one to get into the hotel and another to get the key to our room. We didn't see any hotel staff at all our whole stay, neither during check-in nor check-out. Maybe that's a weekend thing. Luckily, I understand a little Finnish or this might have been a big problem. The details of the hotel mentioned an optional breakfast. I'm not sure how that would have worked without any hotel staff, if we had wanted that. The hotel is kind of T shaped and our GPS took us to the right side of the T. There was an unclear sign there about the reception being 150 meters away, to the left. We walked to the left (had to open a wire gate and walk through some overgrown, semi-blocked path) without success, before realizing we had to drive back to the road and find another end of the hotel, on the left side of the T. Luckily, that side of the T wasn't as run-down as the other but, as I had read in other reviews, things were quite old fashioned, needing updating. The room itself was a little smelly (not cigarette smells, as I had read in another review, but musty smell - not overpowering bad - livable) and things (bedding, couch) felt slightly damp but anyway survivable. Several of the TV channels had some kind of pixellation problem so couldn't be watched. We shared the room with a couple flies (maybe they came in when we opened the porch door) and the bathroom with some ants. But the price was ½, even 1/4 of other places I had looked at, so I could consider staying there (for just one night, no longer) if I ever need a place in that area again.
