Stay Thapae Hostel

Do not recommend! I’ve came in around 5pm and no one was there - reception only works till 4pm. They left instructions on the door how to get in but anyone could do it (access code was on the door) so I wouldn’t feel safe at night. The hostel itself was empty. No single soul and it’s a high season in the city now. When I got to the room I was shocked to see the state of one of the walls. Looks like a water damage covered in mould! Unsafe to stay. After contacting the property they acted like they had no clue about it. I’ve decided to leave after 10 min of being there and found a different hostel for a night. Don’t trust all the good reviews and be careful!

Lack of hooks in the bathroom

The reception guy was very kind and helpful. He gave us some good advice. The value for money is good. We recommend Stay Thapae Hostel for 2/3 nights. The room and bathroom are very clean which is appreciable.

It was very hot in the room but there is air con. The private room is smaller than expected.

The guy on reception was super friendly and helpful. He let us keep our backpacks there whilst we did the Mae Hong Song loop, then had our bags ready in the room when we checked in. Air con in the double room was excellent. Very comfy bedding and excellent location.

Marks on our bedding and the toilets weren't very clean considering the hostel was very quiet. Not a great place to meet people if you're travelling solo but great for a couple of nights for couples. No hangers or hooks in the room for towels/clothes - difficult as the room is very small.
