Ana the owner is lovely! Very attentive! The recommendation for guided tours was excellent

La chambre était très confortable et nous avons pleinement profité de la piscine naturelle avec vue sur les singes hurleurs, les colibris et les papillons. Le petit déjeuner était délicieux, fait de fruits frais et de petits plats cuisinés chaque matin. Jessica et Betty ont rendu notre séjour encore plus agréable, elles ont été très accueillantes et de très bon conseils pour toutes les activités durant notre séjour. La Shamana est une bonne raison de revenir au Costa Rica.

It is a paradise in the middle of pristine forest. It is an experience like no other. It is easy to go to town and return with Uber. What a special place! So so beautiful. And the cats are just adorable.

A few more salty options for breakfast would be nice:) and maybe a WhatsApp contact to communicate after 6 pm (just in case of an emergency). But these are minor things in what was one of the best memories of my time in Costa Rica.

This hotel has so much potential and the staff are friendly. The property is beautiful. A great wildlife viewing spot.

Serious Safety Issues and Disappointing Stay There are major safety concerns that need immediate attention. The boardwalk to the rooms is severely rotten—we were a group of four and broke multiple boards just walking to and from our rooms. Several of us ended up with bruises and cuts on our shins. This level of neglect is unacceptable, and we seriously considered leaving for another hotel nearby. The pool is advertised as a natural swimming area, but in reality, it functions more as a wildlife pond. At night, we saw more than five snakes and dozens—if not hundreds—of frogs. It’s not a place I’d recommend swimming in. Breakfast was underwhelming and insufficient, with no options or variety. The rooms themselves were okay, more of a glamping setup than a hotel room. However, our coffee pot didn’t work, and even after requesting a replacement, the new one was also broken.

The location in the middle of the rainforest was cool, allowing you to hear and see many animals. (We do recommend having your own vehicle that is able to drive on rural gravel roads.) The staff were really helpful, especially Gustavo. He provided helpful recommendations and responded to questions/concerns quickly. Gustavo set up a night tour for our group on the property, and the guide and tour were excellent. The daily breakfast was modest, but tasty, and the rooms were tidied daily. The rooms appeared as pictured.

Although this stay had the potential to be great, our group had significant safety concerns with the facility. There are wooden boardwalks and stairs that move throughout the property, and every single member of our group experienced the wooden boards breaking (even with 2 of our group falling through the boardwalk and injuring our legs). This is due to the moisture of the area impacting the wood. We think this should be improved with replacement of the faulty wood and additional structural support to prevent people being able to fall through before we can recommend others staying at this property.
