"Terrible communication and wedding management and shady business practices. Stay away! The owners do not care about you."

2.0

Please stay away from this venue! My brother and sister in law got married at Youngberg Hill in June 2025. I was their coordinator and had the displeasure of being the main point of contact with the venue. We had an absolutely terrible experience during the planning process, day of the wedding and after the wedding with Youngberg. After our initial tour of the venue with their then Events Manager, that manager left the venue and the position was never filled. Instead, a manager from Portland Catering Company, their preferred caterer, was our new point of contact, even though we weren’t using them as our caterer. It often took weeks/months for the venue to respond on simple questions. We were constantly asked the same questions over and over. It was clear there was no invested interest in our event from any employee we would be talking to. We were told one thing by the general manager and another by the catering manager at Portland Catering Company, which was all different from what we were originally told in our first tour with their events manager. I am baffled at their miscommunication, mismanagement and lack of care for their clients. On the day of the wedding, something that we had talked about multiple times with the venue and were promised they would provide was not fulfilled and I was told there was no way to remedy this because no one was available. Not a single person was able to do anything about this ball being dropped. After the ceremony, the bride, groom and bridal party (10 people total) went to the inn to relax for a few minutes before making their grand entrance to the reception. The bridal party was hooping and hollering for their newly wed friends (understandably). This was met with the inn keeper telling them “you guys need to be quiet because my boss will be mad if you’re loud”. The only people inside the inn at that time were the bridal party and the inn keeper… so apparently it is against their policy to celebrate the newly wed couple. Again, what a disgrace that you call yourselves a wedding venue and yet this is the response to being excited about getting married. The day after the wedding there was even confusion about retrieving our things from the event center by the on site staff, when we had an email sent the week of the wedding from the manager stating exact times we had to remove our items. It is clear this was not communicated to the staff on site and they arrived 50 minutes late to unlock the event venue for us. We have also found numerous things incorrect in our billing and they are only being fixed by us pointing them out. How shady! There was so much miscommunication among staff members, mismanagement by both the general manager and the catering manager and all around lack of care for the couple and their wedding day. After this experience, I offered to let the venue make things right before going public with our experience. Again, it was like pulling teeth trying to get them to respond, but I was trying to give them the time to respond. They took until the day before my deadline for them to request a phone call with me. Four days after our phone call, I had to call the general manager back to ask for an update and was told the owner’s decision was that they don’t care enough to make the situation right. The owner of the venue said that Youngberg only provides the venue and the inn, so all of our issues were things they didn’t need to provide anyways. Let it be known that the owner of the venue views quick responses to questions regarding their venue and inn, delivering on their promises and caring about their client’s wedding day as things they aren’t required to provide to someone who books their venue for a wedding. What an absolute disgrace. The general manager agreed with me that the owner’s behavior was abysmal and kept saying things like “I’ve been telling her this is a problem” and “I’d be upset too if these things happened to me”. It is clear that from the top down, not a single person involved with this venue cares about anything other than money. The owner, Nicolette, is a coward who won’t answer a single phone call or email and talk to you herself about why she won’t refund any money for a terrible experience, but she’ll sit behind a computer screen and justify her terrible treatment towards customers by responding to reviews (that sound like they were generated by AI, so really how much effort is she putting in there). We do not recommend any couple utilize this venue for their wedding. There is not a single thing this venue did well for us in the planning process, during the wedding or after the wedding. It is a disgrace that they charge so much money and deliver such a terrible experience. I encourage every bride and groom and wine drinker stay far away from this venue. Do not give them your money for events, inn rooms (priced incredibly high), or wine. I am incredibly saddened that my brother and sister in laws wedding day will always be overshadowed by the disappointing experience at Youngberg and the lack of care the owner showed when given an opportunity to remedy the situation.

"Ant filled and poor hospitality"

2.0

If you are looking for a beautiful view with bare bone accommodations for over 500 a night, this is your place. My husband and I stayed here for two nights as part of our honeymoon. We booked one of the most expensive rooms and spent the entire stay fighting off ants. Our entire room, including the bathroom, living room, and bedroom was covered in ants. We couldn’t even leave toothbrushes out as they were crawling on every inch of the room. There are no staff on site, so there was nobody available to exterminate or clean up the insects. We also booked because previous reviews mentioned how great breakfast would be. From my experiences staying at an “inn” there is always a breakfast spread or restaurant available. Youngberg Hill offers zero food options, aside from a sad looking plate of tiny pastries covered in ants. There are no restaurants or delivery options nearby, so be prepared to bring lots of your own snacks. I was also shocked that there were no water bottles in the rooms or even a vending machine on site. As a winery serving wine, it seems unheard of to not provide paying guests with water. Upon leaving the inn, there was nobody on site to help with checkout. I tried calling around 10 am after leaving to let them know our room was infested so that the next guests have a better experience. Sadly, nobody was even available to answer the phone. Hours later I received a call. I answered quickly, hoping someone was calling to find out how our stay was or to provide us with money back for our inconveniences. Instead, they were calling to collect additional payment information for the bottle of wine we enjoyed in our room. My card had already been on file, as I booked through American Express. It’s very sad that this inn could care less about guest experience, even during someone’s honeymoon! They are only interested in collecting your money. Do not stay here.

"The view isn’t worth the hassle"

2.0

I would highly recommend you pass on this winery. The view is beautiful but they really don’t care about accomodating guests or being nice. We visited as a group of 6 and were informed ahead of time we could not do a traditional tasting and instead needed to order bottles of wine. We were disappointed because part of our reason for visiting the different wineries is to get to sample many wines but wanted to visit anyway as we were biking and this winery made sense to stop at, and we heard there were great views (whcih there are). When we arrived we asked the tasting room manager if she could tell us about the wines she did, but we definitely didn’t feel welcomed at the winery. We were told we had to spend $30 per person, so we picked bottled to get us to that amount. We had reserved our spot and paid ahead of time. When it came time to settle up, we were told we owed more than we thought. It turns out that at least 2 of the prices on the printed list we were provided were wrong - by as much as $30 a bottle. When we pointed this out and said we would pay the amount that was listed and that we ordered from we were told by the manager she could not do that. After some negotiation we agreed to split the difference. We did leave her a tip on top of that. As we were getting ready to leave the Vice President came running out to ask us what had happened. We explained and he said they had no idea the prices were listed wrong and they were right on the website and we should have know and paid the proper prices. He became very rude when my husband explained the situation and when we said we felt we should have only paid the amount listed. What should have been a nice visit turned into us being bullied by the VP. Reading other reviews it seems that this winery doesn’t really care about visitors to their tasting room.

"Boutique Inn. Working Winery. Amazing Valley Views. Amazing Wines."

10.0

Us intrepid Canadians wanted to stay in a working wine estate, the Youngberg Hill winery stood out for us for the location and the views from the windows and decks overlooking the vineyards, overlooking the coast mountains and the Willamette Valley. This is a quiet, idyllic place to be. You might grow fond of the Scottish highland cows roaming in their pasture. Nicolette was not only the gracious host, but as Willamette Valley's only female wine estate owner, she is an incredible person to talk to. Our room was certainly spacious, comfortable with a bathroom with all the modern fixtures to luxuriate in. We had enough windows to bring in the morning sun as we sat with our coffees following a great night's sleep. Our stay included a wine tasting that hit the spot after roaming the region on a hot and rather humid June day. Nicolette was our host again and her journey though the flight of wines was easy going and fun to enjoy on the covered outdoor patio. The Chardonnay we tasted and bought to take home to Canada was full body and her Rose we thought was the best Rose we tasted in the whole region. When we return to the Willamette Valley, we'll come back to Youngberg Hill.

"Used to be Great"

2.0

I have been here many times, but things seemed to have changed. I had a very embarrassing experience bringing my 5 friends for wine and a picnic. We bought 2 bottles of wine. When the bill was brought, the waiter told us we had to pay $30 per person because we had made a reservation for 6 people. I made the reservation on the phone, and at no time was there a mention of this fee. In fact, I asked if we could bring in food, and get a glass of wine, bottle, or tasting, depending on my friends' choices. Yes, we could. So we ended up owing more money than the 2 bottles, and my friend said he would buy the third bottle to meet the quota. Being an awkward situation, he just asked for another bottle of one of our choices. At no time, did we become aware that the bottle we ordered was $100; as it was not one of the bottles he had displayed for our choices. Bill paid. All of us embarrassed and dissatisfied. My friend went back to the waiter independently and asked if he could exchange the bottle for a cheaper one. He was told NO, it would be to hard to do. (My son works at a winery, and said it is no big deal.) He also said, "Didn't you enjoy the wine?" to which my friend honestly, "It was not as good as what we had earlier." We all left embarrassed and dissatisfied. Will not go back.

"Over Priced"

4.0

Visited Youngberg Hill after reviewing internet post and found it miss leading. No breakfast was offered. The room was dated. Wine and tasting was okay, not the greatest. The cost of $580 did not mat h the experience. The view was nice but expected more.

"Totally chill place! No TV!!"

10.0

We loved spending to days relaxing at Youngberg Hill. I wished for a radio in our room. It would have been nice to have some chill music in the background playing. We would have loved to try the wine but it didn't work out for us. I would have loved to have an after dinner glass. But, alas hours were noon to 4. Thank you for a wonderful relaxing place!! ❤️

"Stay here for wine tasting in Willamette Valley"

10.0

Beautiful location with hotel room windows and decks overlooking the vineyards, the coast mountains and the Willamette valley. Quiet and idyllic, you’ll see a couple of old dogs watching the hotel grounds, some highland cows in their pasture and few sheep in the vineyards. This is a perfect location for a wine tasting trip getaway. Rooms are warm and comfortable. Staff are super friendly. easy going and accommodating. I’m coming back.
