I have mixed feelings about the apartment, and I will say up front that this was my first visit to Russia. On the positive side, the apartment itself is newer and in very good condition. Everything worked properly, and it was very clean. Also, Anna was very responsive to my requests, and she was very friendly and helpful. As to the location, it is excellent! Very close to Nevsky Prospekt, and within walking distance of many nice restaurants. On the downside, there were some negative aspects of the space that I found hard to ignore. For example, the sleeping space is a loft bedroom, as indicated in the photos, but I didn't realize how little head room you have (only about 3 or 4 feet from the floor to the ceiling). As a result, you have to duck as you climb the stairs to avoid hitting your head on the ceiling, and you most certainly cannot stand up in there. Also, the stairs were *very* steep and not very wide, which makes it dangerous (this would never pass building codes in the US). Finally, the stairwell and entry way are in disrepair, with no lighting, which again is a safety issue in my estimation. I understand this is an old building, but some kind of lighting seems necessary to install.
