"The perfect hotel in the perfect location"

10.0

Stykkisholmur is a picture-book pretty town at the eastern end of the Snaefelsnes Peninsula, looking out to the north towards the fjords. As a setting it's both remote and breathtakingly beautiful. The Hotel Egilsen is a small, cosy hotel in the harbour area, and honestly it's just the best hotel we've ever stayed in. This has a very great deal to do with Monica, who runs the reception desk, makes legendary breakfasts, serves coffee and biscuits whenever you ask, recommends wonderful walks and restaurants, and just generally makes you feel so so welcome you never want to leave. We're already making plans to return - to Snaefelsnes, to Stykkisholmur and to Hotel Egilsen! Oh, and one further note. If you come here, don't miss Sugandisey Island. You can walk to it across a causeway from Stykkisholmur harbour, and the views from the top of the cliff are unforgettable. But then everything about Stykkisholmur is unforgettable.

"Un accueil exceptionnel à proximité d’un port charmant"

9.0

Loved this place! Nice to have a reasonable priced single room while traveling with friends. Clean, quiet and comfy. Beautiful short walk to a gorgeous view of the surrounding islands, next door to a fantastic fish restaurant, lovely onsite breakfast. If you're in the area would definitely recommend!

"Above and beyond, this experience was wonderful! Thank you Marta!"

10.0

My husband and I would rate this whole experience was AMAZING!!! The rooms were lovely, the location perfect, and our host Marta deserves 100 stars!! She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable! We arrived in the evening, Marta got us all settled in and even called The Skipper (her recommendation and delicious!) to make us a dinner reservation so there was no wait for a table. In the morning Marta put together a feast of a breakfast to get us ready for a day of hiking, it was without a doubt the best breakfast we had in our two weeks of Iceland travel. It was clear Marta was this attentive to all of the guests, making a cup of tea for a guest with a cough and knowing it was a young man’s birthday in the morning. All in all the best stay of our whole trip!

Everything was perfect, we didn’t have a single complaint to offer.

"An unexpected nice surprise"

10.0

No doubt: the warmest possible welcome by Marta, the nicest hotel guest that I've met in many years and I have made hundreds of check-ins in those many years. Professional, kind and informative.

Staying a bit longer to finish a couple of pending conversations on Spanish music and Polish poetry.

"Good but not excellent stay at the Hotel Egilsen"

7.0

The shower was fantastic. The town was lovely although pretty far away from the sights. The hotel staff were great and very helpful.

Breakfast was not included, which made the cost even more expensive. The bed was not comfortable. This place is more a bed & breakfast (without breakfast) than a hotel. It was nice in many ways but fell short in others.
