"Wonderful B+B located in the heart of Comala"

10.0

I seriously could not think of a better place to stay when in Comala. The owners Rosa and Miguel are truly hospitable and wonderfully warm people. Their hostal (read Mexican BnB/private hotel) is beautifully kept, spotlessly clean and central located. When in Colima do yourself a favor and visit the wonderful town of Comala while staying in a superb, affordable hotel.

"Very homey and comfortable"

8.0

We stayed at this lovely small hotel when visiting the quaint town of Comala. It is just down the street from the main square and Cathedral - great location. We were lucky to get the best suite - king size bed and sitting area, bathroom with shower, with an outdoor sitting area next to it. Our friends stayed in one of the front rooms, sharing the bathroom with another room (although there were no guests in the other room, so they had it to themselves). The hosts, Rosa, speaks English and is very friendly. Continental breakfast is included. Excellent value for the money.

"Great Welcoming Hosts!"

10.0

We had a great one night stay at this family run B&B. We had a room with no AC, which my husband didn't care for, but it was fine with the fans and windows. The rooms were cozy and we loved the patio area. The host gave us so much great information about what to do and see in the area. She was really helpful and kind and willing to visit with you. The breakfast was simple and delicious: coffee, pan dulce, yogurt and fruit This was a very nice place to visit and feel at home. There was a communal kitchen, decent internet and you could walk to the plaza.

"Delightful stay"

10.0

Our stay here was like visiting old friends. Rosa and Miguel were perfect hosts;we were made to feel right at home. They shared tips on places to see and where to eat. The b&b is comfortable and close to the plaza. Breakfast was organic fruits, local coffee and fresh pastries. The hosts are both bilingual. We would highly recommend Casa Blanca.

"A great location in Comala"

10.0

We stayed here recently and found it to be a wonderful place from which to explore this charming pueblo magico. It is just around the corner from the fabulous Piccolo Suizo restaurant and the romantic Adobe Pizza, and block and a half from the town center and its famous botanas. Rosa, Miguel, and their son Victor are delightful to get to know and are knowledgeable about the area, and they speak English. The rooms were immaculate and included a good TV and internet access. Despite the heat outside, the thick adobe walls kept the room feeling cool all day. The next time we need a room in the area, it will be here!

"Hidden Gem! "

10.0

This is my wife and my first experience at a hostel. From the moment we were greeted at the front door until our departing hugs I knew we had made the right decision. The rooms are clean, comfortable and affordable! Rosa and her family do everything in their power to make your stay pleasant! They have several configurations of rooms for different prices. We stayed in a room at the front on the second floor with a cool evening breeze. Ceiling fan, check, cable TV, check, wifi check! We also had access to the kitchen where we stored our waters for the next day and snacks for the evening! We had use of all kitchen facilities. Not only the fridge but a microwave, stove, and utincles. They have rooms with a private bathroom however we went with a cheaper shared one and had no problems! Towels, soap, shampoo and extra soft toilet paper were all provide! Rosa provided us with coffee, pan, and offered us fruit and yogurt every morning with a smile! We were provided information about the town and surrounding towns and what they had to offer. Their nephew Fernando was kind enough to take us on a tour which consisted of stopping for lunch, seeing the volcano and a secret lagoon! This was not an advertised tour but one more from the heart. Keep in mind Fernando is a paramedic, going to school and working on a program for teachers to continue to educate students while they are Ill so they don't fall behind. Amazing young man. My point is he offered his time in return for gas money. Keep in mind he makes 500 pesos a week while going to school. I believe if you are blessed you bless others in return! ;-) After our great afternoon with Fernando we returned to say our good byes, gather our belongs and head to the bus, where our new friend placed us safely and hugged good bye. I want to tell you this was one of the best experiences of my life! Thanks to Rosa and her family I will no longer rush to book an all inclusive resort with mideoker food and average service! Until our paths cross again my new friends, may God protect and keep you!

"Excitements turns to gloom"

4.0

First, Comala. Pictures and tour guides make the "white" village--a "magic" place-- sound like a magnet for travellers. I imagined at least a few gringos sopping up the beauty. Not so, probably because it really is only a small white village where young families gather in the park which is surrounded by a few Mexico restaurants. If you don't climb to a rooftop to view the volcano, you wander up and down the streets and see nothing extraordinary. You may stay overnight...or not-- tour the volcano area and back track.True, the owners of Hostal Casa Blanca are hospitable and friendly; good people who mean well but they don't live in their hostal. In fact, there's no one in attendance all night. The rooms are delightful. It SHOULD reek of peace and quiet but that wasn't my experience. I had made it clear that, above all, if I were to enjoy my time in Comala--perhaps remain for weeks-- my first priority is sleep. I was given the large upstairs room with a gorgeous bath. The ceiling fan spun but you couldn't feel any air. Not a good sign. I settled in, strolled around town, ate the best pizza ever on a side street but there was no "life." After the flight and spending the previous night near GDL, then the morning bus trip and drive to the hostal, I now looked forward to relaxing! But the room was sweltering in May, even as the night air rolled in. Until the wee hours, I walked in and out of the room, into the "smoking area" right outside, trying to get a breath of cool air. Every time I opened the door, heat struck me like a sauna. Then, came the barking dogs in the adjacent yard on the other side of the wall. That awful noise went on intermittently all night. Then roosters started up about 6 AM. Lights switching on and off, and guests going in and out of shared bathrooms was maddening, so I packed. I dragged my luggage down the stairs at about 7, having no place in mind to go. The son was there; his mother was out of town. I paid him in cash, and went out in search of a taxi. I heard no complaints from other guests, in downstairs rooms--perhaps natives of Mexico and heavier sleepers than I. After mentally building up to a great visit in Comala. I'm so sorry that it ended as costly as it did. I wish others a more rewarding experience.

"Hostal Casa Blanca is an oasis of peace"

10.0

Words cannot do justice to Hostal Casa Blanca. In the white "pueblo mágico" town of Comala very near to Colima a block and a half from the pretty central square full of charm is a dream Hostal. It is immaculately clean and nicely decorated. The beds are comfortable and my room had a fine, private bath attached. Breakfast is superb. More importantly, the owners merit the most laudatory adjectives: warm, caring, helpful, hard working, knowledgeable, smiling, fun and sincere. Such are Rosa, Miguel Ángel and their son Victor. They reflect well upon what is found in most people in this special, unpretentious Mexican town of pure charm. It hasn't been turned into a theme park, overpriced tourist trap by travel magazines or snowbird inundation. I travel the world. I know quality lodging. I shall announce arrogantly with pride that it is a no brainer. If you are in Comala, you stay at Hostal Casa Blanca. I did----for over a month!
