the garden room

I had a great stay at The Garden Room. I needed somewhere to stay whilst I came up to study at university for the week and this was perfect. Arrived late but the hosts gave me easy-to-follow directions and even put the heating on, so I had a very warm apartment for my arrival. Has all the facilities you could need and the bed is so comfy - had a great sleep. All in all, I would absolutely stay here again (especially for the complimentary biscuits!). The Hosts have done a beautiful job of the place.

A lovely warm and comfortable apartment with a well appointed kitchen. Very handy for all the local attractions. Large comfy bed!

The bathroom would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems or who had trouble getting in and out of a bathtub - a small point

Lovely view from decking with outdoor seating and cute fairy lights, characterful timber property, good sized comfy bed and living space, bath tub, well kitted out kitchen, friendly and responsive owners, nice touch with milk and chocolate biscuits left. Good base if on holiday.

Surprise limitations and DIY guest requirements only communicated in lengthy property instructions folder e.g., clean the property yourself or face additional charges; unreliable hot water; restricted head height in shower, getting out of bed and above kitchen work surfaces (even at 5ft 3 I caught my head and had to duck continually); access via farm track (potholed); limited natural light inside; no phone signal except for O2 (when booked for work travel); asked pop over to alert owners to any problems vs. by texting mobile number provided Not suitable for business travel with no hot water available in the garden flat for the entire stay. Fortunately there’s an electric shower in the utility room but only accessible by climbing over / squeezing past furniture and laundry baskets. Restricted access to hot water controls needed to reset.

It’s in a lovely setting with a great view. The room is quirky, comfortable and very well equipped.

The step up to the bed area is quite high (I used chairs as handrails!) and the shower upstairs is awkward to be in. It’s not an ideal place for anyone with any mobility issues..
