Lovely find, set outside of the main town, clean, spacious house & a fabulous host. The room had everything we needed and was quite big for the price

The accommodation was lovely and the owner went out of her way to help us park as we had an large van breakfast was good

The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was finished to a very high standard and was very spacious. We had views of hills, trees and sheep and spotted a buzzard and 2 red kites. The breakfast was good.

Sadly, first impressions were not good. We arrived at the house and found that there were electric gates which were closed, and there was no means of opening them. As I discovered, only the owner can open the gates. My only option at this point was to enter via a small gate, walk up the drive, climb a number of fairly steep steps, for which there's no handrail, and knock on the door. The gate actually had a sign that said dogs are running loose, enter at your own risk!!! Upon answering the door, I was told that we could leave the car outside the gate. We wanted to bring it onto the drive which we duly did, although felt slightly uncomfortable for asking to do so. We entered the house, to see a sign telling us that no shoes were to be worn past that point. We understand that walkers stay at the property, but feel however, that most people, ourselves included wouldn't actually walk on someone's floor/carpet in muddy shoes or boots. We aren't walkers, and our shoes were clean. My husband was quite wary of coming down the stairs in socks, as there's the possibility of slipping. One point of note, and I had clearly failed to check before we arrived, was that our bathroom was not en-suite. I went to the loo at about 11.00pm and encountered a man coming up the stairs. I felt more than a little uncomfortable in a nightdress.....
