The setting of the lodge is stunning, and the decor is beautiful. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful at all times. We enjoyed the delicious meals, a beautiful hike to the waterfall and a game drive where we saw a variety of antelope. Overall, a wonderful stay.

Our stay at this wonderful hotel was truly exceptional from start to finish. Everything was fabulous—the breathtaking view, the top-notch amenities, and the attentive staff. It offers the caliber of service and quality of facilities you’d expect from a luxury palace, combined with the authentic charm and warmth of a family-owned property. Bertie, the manager, was incredibly caring and attentive, making us feel truly welcomed and well-cared-for throughout our entire stay. The location is breathtaking, with extraordinary opportunities for scenic walks and exploration. The cuisine was both generous and refined—delicious dishes that delighted our palate. I would return to South Africa solely to revisit this place and reconnect with Bertie and his fantastic team. It’s a rare and exceptional spot, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking beauty, comfort, and genuine hospitality. A particularly great advantage is that the Kruger National Park is accessible from the hotel—much better than staying inside or near the park. We previously stayed at a luxurious hotel at Kruger, and it paled in comparison to this experience. Thank you again for the warm welcome and unforgettable stay!

Lodge is beautiful. Scenery and game make it a wonderful place to visit

There were bats in the cottage and despite calling out for removal we had no assistance. Ended up needing to watch quarantine ourselves into one small bedroom with two single beds so that they would not enter the area where our young son slept. If a cottage is booked, the should tell you where to collect the keys, where the DB board is located as the power trips often. With the cottage being so remote there should be a proper method of communication when network becomes problematic. Plumbing is tempramental. Deeply disappointed by the experience.

Our honeymoon at Dawsons Game & Trout Lodge was nothing short of magical. Since it was our first, I asked the manager if there was something special they could do. He told me not to worry, that he would organize everything and he truly delivered. The surprise arrangements were amazing and made our honeymoon unforgettable. The same care was shown for my wife’s birthday. The team went above and beyond to make it extra special, with thoughtful touches that warmed our hearts. Every detail of our stay was handled with excellence, creating memories we will cherish forever. What impressed us most was the manager’s personal attention. He checked in regularly to ensure we were comfortable, and even followed up after we arrived home to make sure we got back safely. That level of genuine care is rare and speaks volumes about the lodge’s commitment to its guests. The lodge itself is breathtaking serene, romantic, and surrounded by beautiful landscapes. The atmosphere is perfect for couples, and the staff’s warmth and professionalism made our stay truly exceptional. We already miss this place and cannot recommend it highly enough. Dawsons Game & Trout Lodge gave us the best honeymoon we could have imagined, and a birthday celebration we’ll never forget. Thank you for making our time with you so memorable!

Honestly, the only thing we didn’t like was having to leave and go back to city life 😂😂.
