Daedunsan Hotel

We planned to arrive there in the evening, and went to Daedunsan in the next morning, so the location is excellent. It just next to the cable car. The rooms were big and clean, beds were comfortable. Staffs are nice and friendly. You can have half-price for their sauna.

Unfortunately although it looks the part and contains all the right ingredients, they don’t really work well together. Our dealings with Koreans have been universally great elsewhere, everybody seemed eager to please, but that wasn’t the impression we got from the receptionist or the restaurant. WiFi was hopelessly unreliable. I used cellular data instead, but it was slower in that area than in other places we stayed in. The bed was very firm and the bed sheet was ripped at the side. Breakfast was disappointing. We were led to believe that breakfast is cooked to order, but significant parts of both the Korean and American breakfasts seemed to have been kept warm for too long before being served. One glass of water was poured by the waiter, after that I needed to work out where in the dining room there was a jug of water so that I could help myself to a second glass. The waiter was hardly to be seen, even though there were no more than a tiny handful of other diners. In a sense, the hotel appeared to tick the right boxes, but their heart wasn’t in it and it just didn’t work like a hotel of that calibre should work. It has the potential to be a great hotel, but it delivered a sub-par experience with too many aspects not being good enough.
