"Great Location but missing that personal touch"

7.0

The location was excellent to Sedbergh in a quite cul-de-sac. The house itself was comfortable with all necessary amenities. It was very clean for the most part. The bed in the main bedroom was extremely comfortable. The towels were big, lovely and soft. Fresh milk, tea, coffee and biscuits.

We had originally booked to attend a book festival that was unfortunately cancelled. We had booked the property as a non refundable price however I contacted the property well in advance of our stay to see if there was any possible partial refund. Whilst I understood that it was non refundable, I received no response to my messages or emails. The only communication was when I sent a cancelation request which was denied. In the end we travelled anyway to explore the area and make the best of the trip. I think that because the property is managed by Sykes Cottages (which we didn't know when booking), you lose the personal communication with the property owner. Whilst the main bed was extremely comfortable the single bed was the opposite. I doubt an adult could have slept comfortably in it. Luckily no one had to sleep in it. Just a minor detail that wasn't a big problem but didn't look very nice, was the thick dust in the bathroom extractor fan. The shower was not good and no matter what temperature we changed it to, it was either scalding hot or freezing. Maybe its just me or the location but I found £431 for two nights a bit pricey for what you get.

"Wet weekend so didn’t see the house or Sedbergh at their best"

7.0

Quiet area. Well equipped. Nice outdoor area. Comfy bed.

Cramped porch made it difficult to take off muddy boots/ wet coats etc without coming into the house.

"Cute house in quiet location"

10.0

Quiet location - Didn't hear any noise despite it being New Years Clean house - everything was clean and tidy and well maintained Had everything we needed to have a relaxing break away.

Slight downside is the lock for the back door was extremely stiff and sometimes meant we struggled to unlock it easily - could be a potential fire hazard in a hurry. The only other thing that wasn't ideal was the check in time of 3.30pm as it meant we missed half of our firdt day but then a very early checkout of 9.30am wasn't the most convenient. Maybe could consider check out around 10/11 if only expecting guests to check in at 3.30pm.

"Perfect for what we wanted."

10.0

Self catering with a large Spar store only 5min walk away. The place itself was in a quiet cul-de-sac and was spotlessly clean with everything you'd need in the kitchen. The real bonus were the towels - loads and big and fluffy (lovely).

"Great location, nice little cottage and would stay there again."

9.0

Great location with good roads to windermere and surrounding areas, nice little cottage with pretty much everything you would require provided in the property. Garden was great and had seating area so could eat outside. WiFi was very good.

Mattresses and pillows could do with being a bit comfier - but guess it's personal preference. The smaller bedroom did make my son say 'it's literally a bed in a room' as nowhere to put his clothes etc... fridge/freezer had a missing internal door.
