We were in the Room with a View. Queen bed, private bathroom/shower. Upstairs in the main house. Common area living room. Common dining area for homecooked breakfast. Owner dines with you for breakfast. Small town feel. Very welcoming. Would definitely stay there again.

It was beautiful and full of history. The founder personally escorted us to our room and suggested a view on the bluff for sunset. We went into Gruene and sat out in a patio listening to an Elvis Impersonator. Would go back for a girls trip and stay longer next time! Breakfast was wonderful and we had to leave early to get out on the local lake. They even wrapped up a coffee cake to bring to our son who we were meeting that morning.

We stayed with a group of 7 friends renting both the Deer Haven Cottage and the room with a view. Deer Haven had the perfect private patio in the back for us all to hang out together and grill. The property is historic and the owners love sharing the history. The homemade breakfast is the best part of the whole stay but the property is beautiful. There’s a great lookout area on top the hill at the highest point of the property which is perfect for enjoying the sunset. The furniture is outdated, but it fits the cottage vibe. It’s like staying at your grandma’s house, hospitality included!
