The Otunna Guest House

I am a returning guest - and if that is not enough, let me tell you this place is truly exceptional. I have traveled through Sri Lanka twice now and it is still my favorite place to stay. Dinesh and his family are amazing, the best most open hearted people that feel like family at this point. Dinesh’s mum cooks amazing food. The kind of food you day dream about when you return from your travels. The place is well looked after, the rooms are neat and super clean. Every detail is well put. You will feel safe, loved, and hosted so well.

The Wi-Fi connectivity can be better inside the rooms 🤩

Liked pretty much everythig about this place - really cool vwith the lodges in the small rain forest. Lovely hosts, great breakfast,, comfy rooms.

Von der Begrüßung mit Fruchtcocktail über das Zimmer, das Frühstück und Abendessen und die Herzlichkeit der Gastgeber für uns einfach perfekt! Die Bungalows sind direkt in den Garten integriert - man ist von Bäumen und Sträuchern umgeben, überall sattes Grün und es kommen viele Vögel, Chamäleons, Streifenhörnchen und auch mal ein Affe im Garten vorbei. Die Zimmer sind schön eingerichtet, und man hat einen Holzständer um Kleidung aufzuhängen. Auf der kleinen Terrasse vor unserem Bungalow konnten wir zudem auf einer kleinen Bank oder einer Schaukel entspannen. Die Unterkunft ist ruhig aber dennoch recht nah am Lion`s Rock gelegen. Die Gastgeber sind super herzlich!!! Dinesh hat uns bereits vorab (per Whatsapp) bei der Buchung unseres Fahrers vom Flughafen nach Sigiriya unterstützt und uns vor Ort auch viele Tipps gegeben sowie eine Safari organisiert. Zudem haben wir uns viel unterhalten und uns gegenseitig von unseren Kulturen sowie Land und Leuten berichtet. Auch seine Frau, Vater und Mutter waren total herzlich und vor allem der Vater auch immer mal wieder für einen kleinen Plausch bereit. Frühstück war sehr lecker und sehr üppig. Wir hatten einmal Abendessen in der Unterkunft, hier wurde uns von der Mutter ein absolutes Festmahl (Rice & Curry) bereitet. Für uns war es der perfekte Start in den Urlaub und wir würden jedem der nach Sigiriya kommt empfehlen, sich hier ein Zimmer zu buchen.

Für uns gab es hier nichts, das uns nicht gefallen hätte.

What can I say. Everything was perfect from the amazing meals (big thanks to Dinesh’s mum) to the knowledge & tips provided by Dinesh. The rooms are lovely & photos don’t do justice to the garden. If you are coming to Sigiriya I highly recommend a stay here. Beautiful family who make you feel incredibly welcome.

The room was extremely clean and cleaned daily, the bed was so comfortable and there was lots of attention to detail such as cold water in the fridge when we arrived! There is a very peaceful and well kept garden on your veranda to sit and read in the morning. 🌅 The hosts are exceptional. They are the most warm, kind and helpful people you could wish for in a place. For example when we got back from a hot and busy morning they brought us fresh juice and coffee to our room 🥹 The breakfast is exceptional and the hosts are on hand to help organise your day if you want it. This is a genuine 10/10 hotel.
