The Machiya Kamiumeya

We only liked that it had a large and comfortable bed.

As shown in the photos, the room did not open onto a Japanese garden as advertised. In addition, the air conditioner and TV remote controls had instructions only in Japanese, so we were unable to use them. The location was also far from the main tourist and central areas. We had to walk about 2 kilometers just to reach transportation and get to the city center from the hotel.

Este lugar es definitivamente tranquilo y si está bien ubicado a pesar de no estar tan céntrico. Hay buenos lugares para comer cerca y tiendas de cerámica artesanal a pasos.

No recibí las indicaciones para entrar con tiempo. Así que fue un poco complicado al llegar, sobre todo porque no hay front desk y estaba lloviendo. Tardamos un poco en entrar pero al final todo bien.

Mucho espacio, limpio y buen servicio. Estilo Kioto por dentro

No está ubicado muy céntrico

The space is absolutely beautiful. The room was very well equipped and quite a nice space for us and our luggage. Absolutely loved the staff, they were super helpful.

The location is ok. It’s in a more residential area, not really close to any shops/restaurants - besides a convenience store up the street. It’s a 6 minute walk to catch a bus or 12 minutes to the closest station. That gets a bit tiring after a long day of traveling.

Charging 500 yen per bag to transport your own luggage from the checkin desk near Kyoto JR station to the Machiya. (The first 2 bags are free). You cannot send the luggage directly to the Machiya from Yamato Transport service, you have to send it to the Check-in counter only. The Wifi was unreachable in our entire room, we were shocked how no one had complained about it until now. They sent us a pocket wifi but it was very slow and very unreliable in terms of Coverage.
