Roman Empire Panglao Boutique Hotel

We stayed twice already in this Hotel. From the opening last 2019 i would positively say thay they have improved. Personal opinion! Location: not walking distance from alona beach but has shuttle service every hour. Also close to the airport transfers are easily done via tricycle around the area for 100php. Positive : infinity pool with lifeguard on the watch Room service everyday Bfast is ok good. restaurant served as well lunch and dinner. Helpful and attentive service personel. Clea and secure place. Negative: Bathroom has stinking smell from time to time. Wifi is unstable to none existing Noise can get in your room especially during high seasons when other asian guest come and tend to be lound early in the morning and late evening. .For the price we payed we could have gotten better quality qccomodation experience. None the less Will def coming back and recommend this place but better check for a good price deal.

This review is directly adressed to the management and it’s a constructive criticism so they can improve, it’s not an attack. We have stayed at the Roman Empire for 3 nights right after new years 2020. I really liked the pool, some sandwiches I got from the restaurants and the eco and environmental friendly approach of the hotel Here is a few improvement points I would like to recommend from my point of view. 1. Rooms were nice and clean ( may be a little bit small ) but The AC was weak, may be it is energy saving or something but its not the best AC I experienced. 2. Water leaking in the bathroom Also water leaking from ac in the balcony. I usually wouldn’t complain about it, but amount of water was significant It’s not nice to have a small pond in the bathroom. 3. They have a very nice pool with lifeguards most of the time. Be careful especially if you have kids, get Parts of pool are not equally deep. It can be potentially dangerous 4. Breakfast options are limited and it looks like they are using the left overs more and it’s Not super tasty as well Some of the food wasn’t marked and when I asked staff what it is, they don’t seem to know themselves. So clearly room for improvement here 5. Many many workers in the hotel. Staff seem very bored all the time, you can see them sleeping on the bar, playing with phones and super loudly yawing, which makes you feel uncomfortable. And even if you need napkins or salt you need to go to look for yourself because staff is too busy to be bored. 6. Reception is not very helpful- always seems very confused and lost need to remind and ask same things again and again. 7Location - quite far from the beach, free shuttles going only once per hour . So count extra 100 pesos on the way there and back, every time you need to go to beach, shop or Main Street but that we knew at the beginning when we choose this hotel. 8. The water is not always hot in the shower 9. Bar need to refresh their equipment- when you sitting they bring you dirty sheets on the table. 10. Very noisy You can hear every single word in the corridor from 6am ( so not good if you have planned to sleep longer ). Also they still doing work at some rooms and the noise is all day. So even if you try to sleep during day it is mission impossible. 11. No ventilation in the bathroom except the windows that goes on the corridor 12. Internet signal from poor to not existing in the rooms ( I was in the room 56) I would stay there again but not for the price I paid ( 120€ per night ) I don’t think Roman Empire Reached this level of services to worth to pay that amount in Philippines.

We stayed in Roman Empire for the second time.They extended the pool, it must be longest pool in Panglao. Cleanliness was perfect again. The food was yummy for a very fair price, especially compared to places on Alona Beach. They offer a free shuttle every hour to Alona Beach, which only takes 5 minutes. It is very conveniently located to the airport. 5 minutes to the Airport but no airplane noise at all. We loved the sunbeds by the pool. Starting around 2pm they are nicely shaded thanks to the smart building architecture. The area itself is huge and feels like you are in ancient, luxury Rome. The internet speed is very fast and reliable. Our room was quiet, nice and very generous in size. The employees were so friendly. We were very happy again and want to come back next year 😊

Great service. Accommodating staff

Brand new hotel. Looks nice. Have big pool and access to pool from 1st floor rooms balcony. Restaurant at medium price, have european menu items. Spa available. Rental bikes available. In room very good organized power outlets and light switches. Cleanness. Unfortunately, not everything is good. In my room problem with keycard sensor. I think, previous guests used paper for sealing keycard in holder. The staff sees this and does not even think about changing. There are only two contacts and two screws. I saw that in the evening one couple moved to another room. I think that because of these problems. The staff is all very young, seemingly no older than 20 years. It is evident that they are trying, but it turns out not so good. Therefore, the service is not high level. The bathroom is so small that if you stand facing the sink, you need to put one foot on the toilet. In the evening I saw a centipede on the floor in the room. Super economy shower, need push and hold button for water. If button pop-up, 5-10 seconds and water stopped. Only one keycard, only one breakfast coupon, inconvenient for two people. Cash only deposit. Located in no cellular coverage area. And hotel Wi-Fi has very weak signal power. In room no Wi-Fi near front door, only near balcony. Under construction, noise. Do not pay for this hotel a lot, buy only if you see big discounts. This hotel good for 1-2 days staying only.

I did discuss this review with management prior to my departure and they said they will address everything and covered my minibar charge - which was about 500 pesos for a 4 day stay, but I feel that is inadequate for the issues. On the positive - it is a lovely pool and the location is very convenient to both the airport and Alona beach. There is great potential but the hotel is very new On the negative There is a long list of charges in your room - dirty the sheet, break a cup, break the shampoo bottle, leave a stain on the pillow, dirty a towel. Some of these just have to be expected at a hotel. I did not get charged for any but it felt like a set up. There is wifi, but there's really not wifi. It's not good enough to send an email with an attachment. The air conditioning in the room points straight at your head when you sleep - so you have this cold air blowing straight on you. You have to build a pillow fort to have the air con working so the room is cold but your face is not being blasted. The shower is on a 7 second timer and only gives luke warm water. You have no control. You can't have a hot or cold shower, only luke warm. The TV in my room worked for 3 hours in 3 days. I reported this 6 times.

Really nice hotel, I can recommend this to both couples, friends, families, older, younger. Fresh and modern with a friendly staff. Didn’t have so high expectations but I got overwhelmed when coming here, upon arrival you get free welcome drink and 20 minutes spa, it’s a nice guarded pool, it’s little expensive food compared to other restaurants in Philippines but also the best food I have got here. Great value for the money

AVOID this hotel. It is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION. A powerful SMELL of OPEN SEWERS kept filling our room. The NOISE from POWER DRILLS directly above and from GENERATORS and workers SHOUTING from behind a wall a few feet away made us want to leave as soon as possible. When I complained I was lied to; the smell is from sealant they said, and they offered us a free drink. When I spoke to the owner at the end of our stay he said he might be able to offer us a free stay next time, but he would have to speak with the other owners first. We've been back 4 days and heard nothing. The room had no drawers, just a small hanging rack, so we had to live out of our suitcases. There is no phone. There is no room service. The free shuttle bus to Alona Beach does not start til 1030 - far too late, especially if we wanted to avoid the free breakfast which wasn't very good. A perfectly awful end to our honeymoon. I shall be demanding a full refund from Expedia. They should never have listed this hotel.

Newly opened Dec 18. Spacious rooms. Very comfortable beds. Good air-conditioning. Luxurious towels. Large pool and plenty of sun lounges with umbrellas. Tasty food reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Free shuttle to Alona beach. The only negative is the location with lots of development taking place, noise and pollution.

Good clean hotel. Close to the airport. Staff are great. Free shuttle to Alona Beach if needed.
