Casa Salkantay Cusco

The host was very friendly and good communication and the family apartment has a cosy balcony where you can enjoy your coffee or a drink. The kitchen was well equipped.

To me, unfortunately, the apartment felt quite dirty. The cupboards on the outsides were dirty, same with the microwave and pot lids and some cupboard were dirty on the inside as well. The kitchen floor had quite a bit of dirt in the corners too. Im not sure if the inside of the shower was only dirty or grouting/seal was stained. The apartment windows were not clean, neither the TV screen - I dont mind a couple of finger marks, but I felt compelled to clean it myself. (I have stayed in several places in Peru as well as travelled to a number of South American countries, so I am comparing the cleanliness to these places I have previously stayed at.) For the majority of my stay, there was a terrible, terrible smell coming from the bathroom. Also, the apartment is very near the train tracks, so much so that you could feel the vibration when one comes past. Lastly, its about a 28min walk to San Blas, which the distance wasn´t the problem, I like walking, but, as a solo female traveller who enjoys going out for a beer in the evening, there weren´t any places nearby and I didn´t feel that safe walking back in the dark. But that could just be my perception and not the reality....I´m not sure.

I booked a triple room thinking I would be sharing but I had it to myself which was great and it had its own private bathroom which was awesome! Zuzan was very lovely and welcoming. It was a little further from town (10-15 minute walk) but not unreasonable and the area seems a bit unsafe but it was fine.

Grazie a Susan la proprietaria ti senti praticamente a casa, la posizione è ottima a circa 10 minuti dalla piazza principale di Cusco. Susan è disponibilissima in qualsiasi cosa gli venga chiesto. Ho potuto lasciare lo zaino mentre ero a machu picchu (dormivo li) ed anche durante l’uscita per la montagna colorata. Ho soggiornato qui 3 notti e lo consiglio a chiunque venga a Cusco. Colazione molto buona.

The host was so nice and accommodating. This property provided everything we need. Nice dining room and kitchen. Would definitely stay if in Cusco again.

Zuzan is very nice and friendly person. She makes all possible for guests to feel like home. She prepares herself breakfasts for the guests every morning, you can cook on the common kitchen, store food in the fridge. There is a possibility to wash in washing machine in the house for some extra money (cheap). We were so lucky to arrive in Cusco in June, every day the whole month is a festival, very colorful!

There is a lack of hot water pressure, but I suppose it is everywhere in Cusco, there is no fault of Casa Salkantay. If you want to have hot shower, keep the water flow as less as possible:)

Zuzan, the host, is very nice, straightforward and sweet. The beds are very comfortable and it’s great value for money. Nice location if you like to be a bit removed from the main square. Nice simple breakfast

Hot water was hard to come by in the showers and I also found it cold in the building generally. The building is also close to the train tracks so you could hear trains passing by. I didn’t ask until late in my stay the trick for hot water.
