Located well for the Cotswolds, was within easy reach of everywhere we wanted to go

I don’t normally leave negative reviews but as someone who relies on other people’s reviews/experiences before booking accommodation I feel it’s only fair to others to give an accurate assessment of a recent stay at The Lampet Arms. Sadly, our experience was poor from the moment we arrived. We pulled into the car park at the back which had numerous piles of junk and rubbish all around it. It even had dustpans filled with dog poo. We wondered if it was even open! We then went to the front and the place looked completely closed but on opening the front door we were greeted with loud barking from the 2 resident dogs. We are dog people but it was rather unnerving. Once inside, we were taken to our rooms in the outbuilding in the car park, which meant walking past all the rubbish outside. Room 1 on the ground floor had a stale smell and was extremely dated. There was baking soda on the windowsill which looked like it had been there years to try and negate the smell but it clearly wasn’t working. Various issues all round… luggage holder could barely support a bag, the bed linen and towels all felt damp and smelled of mildew and the mattress was absolutely awful with no support at all. No hand soap, bath handle broken off and numerous spiders/cobwebs all around. Even the coffee sachets in the tins were out of date. Room 3 upstairs was a little better as it was carpeted and had a decent shower but suffered from the same problem with the bed linen and towels having a musty smell and not being fresh. None of us slept well and 3 out of the 4 of us had back pain the following day. It didn’t help when the dogs were barking at midnight directly outside the rooms (assuming having been brought outside to do their business before bed?!). Even the simple things like the vegetation around the doors to the downstairs entrances was overgrown which made it difficult to close the doors (albeit this was cut back on the second day).

Lovely cosy room, was spotless and so clean. Hosts were very warm and welcoming, thankyou! I messaged with regards to getting an early check in time, which was quickly answered very accommodating.

We liked the quiet area, being out in a little country side village, out of the hussle and bussle of the bigger towns and cities. And the Lampet Arms has a quaint little pub/restaurant with friendly locals to contribute to the atmosphere. We loved the fact they are also dog-friendly in the pub and the rooms!

The staff were lovely , very friendly and accommodating. The evening meal we had and cooked breakfast was excellent and cooked fresh to order . Plenty of options too . The dogs were adorable and so friendly. We stayed two nights in a very comfortable coach house with all the facilities we needed .

The tv was rather small but adequate. And the fridge was abit small . But served it’s purpose . A little dated in areas but ok and everything was maintained well .

Edith & Carrie are amazing hosts , we stayed to be near Shenington for a karting weekend , nothing was too much trouble , Carrie cooks a very delicious breakfast ,Edith is front of house hosting sorting drinks etc, would definately stay here again , full marks
