Le Château de Philiomel

Bien accueilli malgré mon arrivée tardive. Chambre spacieuse de grand confort. Grand silence. Petit déjeuné excellent, avec viennoiseries fraîches de boulangerie (malgré de nombreuses étoiles beaucoup d’hôtels ne les proposent pas) Dépaysement assuré. Très bien situé, proche de l’autoroute.

I loved this place, so much. It's a beautiful chateau that feels a world apart from the town around it. The owner is really friendly and helpful, and he prepares an excellent breakfast. Don't be deterred by some of the other reviews saying that it's not all been recently refurbished - it's not a new build, this place has been standing for decades and is filled with charm and romance because of it. I'll die disappointed if I don't get to visit again and show off this wonderful find to my partner.

Great location to the main A26, peaceful and understated charm.

The property was in need of some basic maintenance inside and out. The entrance to the driveway could be made so much more appealing with a bit of paint on the gates / fence and clear some trees.

Absolutely great. Housekeeper was very nice and dedicated, room was all good, armosphere was relaxing, quiet... If i had to say sething bad, it would be that the water was not burning. It was hot, but i like it burning. Only luxury i didnt get. The rest was fantastic

A BIT SCRUFFY IN PLACES BUT THAT IS BEING ADDRESSED

A comfortable chateau, with enduring elegance, to go for a long weekend from UK, or as a stopover when passing towards or from Calais. There’s a pleasant walk to the small but bustling local town, where there are butchers, bakers and restaurants - and even a vet for dogs needing worming done before returning to UK. Delicious breakfast including a great selection of local cheeses.

It’s not really a complaint, but I couldn’t turn the heating off!

Very friendly owner, old chateau in its own grounds. Small town, great stop just off autoroute.
