"Nice hotel but parking a real problem"

7.0

Friendly staff and excellent breakfast

Parking was a nightmare. Information on booking stated car parking was available - one space per room. I had to park elsewhere initially and move my car when someone went out for the evening. Left my car parked over the weekend as so worried about not getting a space. Grasmere is a nightmare for parking. This has put me off booking this hotel in future!

"Comfortable accommodation right in the middle of Grasmere."

6.0

The hotel is right in the middle of Grasmere and very comfortable. The staff were all really helpful and the breakfast was lovely. We made a late booking with only a few days notice - which may account for the cost- but we felt that it wasn’t very good value for money compared to other places we have stayed at.

"Beautiful town, homely and friendly hotel"

8.0

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming... and a beautiful little town. We had a comfortable room and were in walking distance to everything around us. I found the bed very comfortable, my husband, not as much, but he is heavier 😅. Loved the spa bath, which had amazing jets. There is a lot to do. We weren't aware of the massive cycle race happening , and actually chose the weekend based on it not being school holidays, but I will say, it was a great atmosphere all round. Absolutely beautiful to see all the little lambs and stunning green fields around you. Although breakfasts were very casual, it was lovely and homely - I would probably go back again .. really amazing hosts.

We were a long drive away from our Scaffel pike hike, no fault of the hotel. That is what came up when I googled places to stay if I wanted to hike Scaffel Pike. I booked a room with a hot tub, but it was very visible for me.... Despite having a cover, it felt as if people could look out their rooms and see right into the little garden. It would be nice to have a bit of time in the hot tub after a long hike, and not feel as if you were exposed (though, the jets in the bath did adequately make up for relaxation). There could be a dim light or emergency lamp for the bathroom at night, as going to the toilet and having to turn on a bright light is a bit disruptive to another sleeping person, so I found I had to use my phone torch (it's a small issue - a tiny touch lamp on the wall may be adequate). An option for some take aways or light snacks would be great, especially in the event of a long day out and then wanting to just relax.
