Cal Mestre

The apartment is part of a rural house with it's own private entrance and is completely separate from the house so it felt like we were in a separate house. The apartment is absolutely lovely with thick stone walls and surrounded by an enormous garden. There is a lovely area to eat outside with views of the pyrnees. There is an outside barbecue but it is in a separate garden where the rural house is located. We chose to use the barbecue/ fireplace inside the apartment as it was bigger and it worked perfectly. We ate at the restaurant and the paella de muntanya was amazing. Overall, our stay was extremely peaceful. The location is about a 20 minute drive from the closest town Ribes de Freser where you can buy groceries. Since the location is so far into the Pyrnees, it is incredibly peaceful and went above and beyond our expectations.

Something I would suggest is to have some kind of bell system for the restaurant as twice we came in and had to wait awhile because everyone was in the kitchen and hadn't noticed we were waiting to be seated.

Excellent family stay in the house at Cal Mestre. This is our second visit and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Comfortable and spacious in beautiful, quiet location, only 15 minutes from the ski slopes at La Molina. Amazing food and service in restaurant Maria 5*. We feel very lucky to have discovered this special place.
