Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile

I had reservations at the Marriott magnificent for the weekend of December 6 but was forced to cancel them on December 4 due to a family illness. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I contacted them to cancel the reservation and was told I needed 72 hours for a refund and I was 48 hours out of the reservation. Therefore, I could not get a refund.. I simply asked for a credit for a stay at a later date, but was denied that as well. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, and with a legitimate reason for a cancellation, I was extremely upset and disappointed in their actions. I am sure they rebooked the room and may double the income due to holiday season. The lack of customer service and understanding was absolutely appalling.. As a result I will not stay at any Marriott property going forward. I simply cannot understand the reasoning. No compassion or understanding went into any of their actions.

I've visited this hotel several times because my daughter lives in Chicago. While my favorite place to stay is The Thompson, it's not always available or in my price pocket. I have never been disappointed by staying in the Marriott Downtown. My feeling is that we're truly not going to spend that much time in the hotel room - Chicago has so many wonderful places to visit - so unless it's for a 'romantic/anniversary' event I'm happy staying here. The hotel is perfectly located. The staff is lovely and helpful. The hotel and rooms are clean. The free breakfast gets me started on my day, and the happy hour helps with the transition to evening. There are several great areas to socialize with friends if you don't want to bring them up to your room and , all-in-all, it is terrific.

A recepcionista NIEIRIA, logo que chegamos não encontrava nossa reserva, foi mau educada e respondeu: não sei onde vão dormir hoje e não se esforçou para ver o que estava acontecendo. Eu quem fui olhar no seu computador e achei minha reserva pelo meu sobrenome. Funcionária péssima. O quarto também ficou bem abaixo das nossas expectativas, pelo alto valor que pagamos, as janelas estavam com os vidros todos riscados e os amenities eram bem escassos.

Arrived after a lot of travelling from the UK. Huge lines at immigration at O’Hare and terrible traffic to the hotel, but it was marathon weekend. The check in was smooth and we confirmed our late check out (my wife was running the marathon and knew that on the Monday she would want nothing more than to rest in the room until we traveled to the airport). The room, on the 12th floor was good. Simple but clean and a reasonable size. Everything worked and as well as a fair number of electrical sockets there were also good number of usb sockets on lamps etc. Complimentary coffee and tea, but don’t touch the water bottle was the advice of one of the staff and we listened. In fact whenever we interacted with staff they were all helpful. Those at the desk, the Rush street pantry where we got food a couple of times and housekeeping. The temperature in the room was easy to control (other than me and my wife have different ideas on what is a comfortable setting) and the water was of a good pressure and hot. We stayed four nights and have no criticisms. The view out of the window was ok rather than spectacular but heh. Would happily stay again if we ever return to Chicago.

Stayed for two days on a recent trip to the Windy City. Hotel is very well located within walking distance of all the main shopping areas, Navy Pier etc. Modern vibrant ( and very large) foyer with two entrances/ exits, one of which is on Michigan Ave. Foyer contains a bar, coffee shop/ bakery together with reception. Rooms are included in two blocks ( South & North). Ours was a good size, floor to ceiling window, offering great views over the city. Rooms had tea/ coffee making facilities, safe, decent toiletries etc. We ate breakfast on one morning, which is served in a large area on first floor. Good choice of hot/ cold food and reasonably priced given city centre location.
