Old Taverna Sorrentina

The property is in an amazing location right in the centre of the old town and has lots of charm and character. The room itself was very clean. Maria the host was very friendly

The bathroom had lots of black mould and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. There was also no handle on the door and the gap left by the handle had been filled in with tissue. Maria did mention the bathrooms were being re-furbished so hopefully this won’t be an issue for other travellers, it’s just a shame it wasn’t clean for us.

We stayed in the Superior Suite and it was huge! The location is perfect for exploring Sorrento and it’s around a ten minute walk to the port. Fantastic decor (traditional Italian), HUGE bed, and great air con. Maria was an excellent host, very helpful and friendly. Hard to fault in any way! Would absolutely stay here again!

Located in the old centre of Sorrento, Maria was very helpful during our stay and was able to advise us on places to visit locally. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated. There was a small balcony in our room which was handy to dry towels and a fridge for water etc.

The room could do with some updating, particularly the bathroom as the shower was a bit broken and leaked out onto the floor if you weren't careful. There was also a slight leak from the ceiling in the bedroom. Appreciate though this is an old building and renovation work would be very difficult. It didn't effect our stay though as we spent the majority of the time out exploring.

The location is amazing! In the old town you have access to a huge variety of shops, restaurants and bars. Everything is on your doorstep. The beach is not too far a walk and the new town. Our host Maria was incredibly welcoming. The decor is vintage and quirky, with everything worn down and dated. Expect few mod cons for example we struggled to find sufficient sockets and when we did they were in inconvenient places. The bathroom door did not close fully etc. but in some ways it added to the charm.

Some guidance in advance about how to reach the accommodation would be helpful. Pre-arrival communication was great in that we received a message the evening before asking after our arrival time. However at no point in advance was it communicated how best to get from the port to the accommodation. We followed.google maps and it was only when we had walked up hill for some time dragging our heavy suitcases did I receive a message from the host informing me about the lift from the port to the main town. I understand it could have been avoided with more research on my part. But a short note from the host before arrival would have been helpful and a nice touch.

The property was in the old town Sorrento. It was beautiful. Very traditionally Italian and obviously a labour of love. Our hostess, Maria, made sure we were comfortable and happy and really looked after us, going above and beyond what we would have expected.
