DoubleTree by Hilton Torrance - South Bay

The TV had almost no reception, and was very dated. Only had one channel that was partially available to watch. No other channels were available. The AC was crazy loud inside of the room, so I had to leave it off at nights. They charge $30 for parking. But you can find street parking that is like 5 min away.

After my wife and I have stayed at this hotel for years to visit friends at Thanksgiving, and this year we were appalled with this hotel on this visit for several reasons. 1) The room (rm 223) was extremely NOISY. I had to use a handicap walker and we arrived late; and I was much too tried to trudge back down to the lobby with my luggage, request a different room, and move myself and luggage once again. DETAILS about the noise: There was a very noticeable hum from mechanical equipment, plus, there was irritating resonant buzzing sound. I wore travel ear-plugs and the buzzing sound came right through the ear-plugs. My wife stuck her fingers in her ears, which did not stop the noise. NO HOTEL SHOULD ALLOW ANY ROOM TO BE AS NOISY AS ROOM 223. 2) One of the reasons we've stayed at the Torrance DoubleTree has been because the parking has always been free. Now you have to pay $30 a night. 3) I've always liked the fact that our DoubleTree rooms have had duel purpose trash bins - one side has been for regular trash and the other side has been for paper/plastic recycle. Our room no longer had a recycle bin. 4) Get this: The tap water tastes really bad (I'm not whining, it had a chemical taste), and to address that issue, the hotel charges $3/bottled water. Come-on DoubleTree, that shows extreme cheap, cheap, cheap. 5) For years, my wife and kid enjoyed a warm cookie when we've checked-in late in the evening. The current Hilton website even states "Every stay begins with a warm DoubleTree Chocolate Chip Cookie". This year, we did get the cookie, but it was cold. Hey DoubleTree Hilton! Where's the care you once had??

We’ve been happily staying here for over a decade, but are very unhappy about their new parking policy. As of Fall 2024, this hotel NOW CHARGES $30 A NIGHT for what has always been free (and ample) parking. This is a blatant money grab from an otherwise passable hotel. Do better Hilton. Advice: park to either side of the hotel for free. Don’t give into their tactics. Or just stay somewhere else.

Parking at $30 a day is not included in the price. The cookies they give you doesn't make up for the high cost of parking.

They want to charge everything, $30/night parking for uncovered lots in Torrance? A lot of street parking is available, why you treat your customers that bad??? The card readers in elevators are terrible, really hard to read your card key, so many people complained but the employees don't care. USB chargers in room never works. Is this a DoubleTree quality?

I haven’t been to this DoubleTree in years I grew up in Torrance so this hotel has been around and it is a nice hotel… I have a few gripes… my room trash bin has not been emptied and it looked like it was cleaned very hastily… the parking is $30 a night it is no included with your stay and they do not validate… I remember back in the day I could park for free enjoy the bar and restaurant and go home… this is Torrance not LA so I was taken aback by paying for parking especially if I’m staying and paying to be at the hotel… lastly when confirming my room the day of I got a very rude receptionist who was treating me very badly over the phone I didn’t get her name but she hung up on me… the rest of the staff was friendly but that one lady put a bad taste in my mouth for the Torrance Double Tree.

Nice place. They have a peloton bike but it wouldn’t work because there was no internet service. I left the front desk know but they acted like I didn’t know how to use it. I was unable to connect to the WiFi myself because the settings were locked by an admin. I also left a note there was no shower gel and they didn’t refill it. The second night I removed the bottle and set it on top of the note which it then got refilled. The complimentary breakfast was really nice though. Room was clean. The gentleman that ran the breakfast was very friendly and did a great job taking care of everyone.
