Marin Hilltop Hotel

When I went to check in, the first room I was sent to was occupied with a person in it, but my room key worked to open the door. The second room was beat up and old, elevators didn't seem to work. Ran out of propane for the fire pit. Just not a very good stay.

How this hotel is part of the Marriott chain is beyond me . First thing you will notice as you enter, its the funky smell, similar to a goodwill store. Then you get to talk to the very rude and unfriendly front desk staff . Since we were attending several events during our stay I inquired about getting our room cleaned . The woman promptly informed us that this was not possible even though the website clearly states to ask about it, implying that this was possible . Second person at the front offered to send up towels . When I contacted guest services and also housekeeping neither number answered. Called the front desk and was told to just called them if we needed anything . Both housekeeping and guest services numbers were out of order . There are two elevators to the rooms but only one of them works . The room itself is smelly, dirty and full of what appears to be second hand furniture . Carpeting is dirty and has holes. Drawers in dresser and nightstand do not close. Plastic cups had a wrapper inside probably from a previous guest that had not been thrown in the trash . Shower was dirty and it did not appear to have been washed regularly . I have never experienced anything like this at any Marriott hotel anywhere in the world . I hope that Marriott removes their name from this so called hotel so no one else that expects a Marriott experience gets duped .

Friendly Staff As Soon As You Walk In Or Out Of The Hotel , and Decent Size Rooms. Parking Super Close and Very Clean.

Facility was very clean, bed was very comfortable and they included a soft pillow along with a firm pillow. For being close to the freeway, I found the room reasonably quiet.

The heating unit was VERY noisy. It had to be turned completely off to allow me to sleep. Also, the pet fee of $150 was out of the question. I made other arrangements for our pet.

The bartender was nice

It’s more like a motel than a hotel and for sure it’s not a boutique hotel.
