Holiday Inn Washington-Central/White House by IHG

The Holiday Inn Washington Central is conveniently located, clean, with well appointed rooms. The room was quiet (on the 5th fl), the fitness room is small but has some cardio machines and dumbbells, fine if only 1-2 people are in the room at a time. Front desk staff were helpful and professional. One recommendation would be to offer recycling. I didn't see any recycling bins anywhere in the building and none in the rooms. I don't know what IHG's sustainability plan is, but this is an area for improvement.

The service was excellent throughout our stay. The rooms are attractive and updated, though there are a few minor signs of wear and age. Nothing significant enough to affect our comfort or deter us from staying here again. While the hotel does not have its own bar, there is a Johnny Rockets conveniently attached to the property. Guests can also purchase drinks, snacks, and other essentials from the self-serve market located off the lobby. Unfortunately, the pool had not yet opened for the season, and there was no access to the rooftop during our stay, which was a bit disappointing. The location is outstanding. Numerous restaurants are just a short walk away, and many of Washington, D.C.'s major attractions and landmarks are within walking distance as well.

I chose this Holiday Inn location because it was close to the church where my family was attending a funeral. Overall, the atmosphere of the hotel was wonderful, and the customer service was outstanding. The staff throughout the hotel were professional, friendly, and accommodating. Check-in was smooth and efficient, the dining area staff provided impeccable service, housekeeping was excellent, and everyone we encountered had a positive attitude that made our stay pleasant. We were assigned a handicap-accessible room, which was comfortable and had a very large bathroom. The beds and pillows were especially comfortable. However, I was disappointed that the room did not seem to provide sufficient space for someone using mobility equipment. My mother’s walker could only fit into the entryway and bathroom area, making it difficult to maneuver throughout the room. There were also a few maintenance issues. The automatic door openers for entering and exiting the parking garage were not functioning properly. The parking fee listed on the website appeared to be lower than the price we were charged upon arrival. Additionally, the wall-mounted air conditioning control did not work, the K-Cup coffee maker was not functioning, and the satellite television service was unstable during our stay. One other concern was that the bathroom had no heat or air conditioning vent, which affected comfort. While there were several issues with the room and facilities, the exceptional customer service from the hotel staff made a positive impression. My main recommendation would be to improve the functionality and accessibility of the handicap-accessible rooms so they better meet the needs of guests with mobility challenges.
