Fireside Inn & Suites Portland

I usually like Fireside Inns because they are usually clean and close to a nice restaurant. This one was pretty clean so no complaints there.

This one is older and showing it's age. It isn't insulated very well so the hallways are cold and the room heaters can barely keep up. The key card system is old and finicky. My card had to be "fixed" several times because it would just quit working. I never had this problem with other key cards at other hotels. The breakfast/snacks are minimal, just packaged muffins and granola bars.

The location was great! I've never stayed in Portland, I was worried we would be too far out from our event. We didn't expect to be around so many restaurants. We did go a couple exits up to find dinner but it was easy to access being right off the highway. All the staff we spoke to during our overnight stay were friendly, and informative. Despite the building looking run down, the rooms were very clean.

The Fireside seems a bit more run down than what was advertised, and for the price I paid for overnight feels a bit high. The lobby did feel inviting but the rooms felt dark and outdated. The mattress felt rock hard. The advertisement that led me to book this room implied this place would feel a little more romantic than it actually gave off.

The room was spacious and the area quiet so sleeping was easy. The room was upgraded for free which was nice too! The staff were all polite and friendly. The hotel room itself was clean and tidy, the cleaning staff does a wonderful job.

There was a wet spot over by the window underneath the AC unit and the surrounding area. I visited friends in another room and they had the same issue.
