Best Western Plus New Ulm

Stayed here one night for an immediate family member’s funeral. We had to be at a visitation service for family by 3:00, which is the same time as check in. Since we’d been traveling, we asked if we could check in at 2:30 and indicated we needed to be at a funeral event in town at 3:00. We were told that we could, but there would be a $25 charge for early check-in, which was 20% of what I paid for the entire stay! For 30 minutes! And the place was maybe 10% full that night. Said “No, thanks” and changed in the bathroom of the funeral home. The rooms are tired and desperately in need of a refresh; breakfast was a load of carbs and processed junk. Latte from the latte machine was awful. I could live with all that, but trying to charge me 20% of the room rate for 30 minutes of early check-in in a deserted hotel is just a money grabbing corporate policy that ignores customer service.

Great location and the king room we had was lovely. Nice pool area. Very nice breakfast.

Location, common areas were clean and their was a bar. Check in- we stood there at least 15 minutes while the front desk only had 1 person doing checkin, answering phone and fielding rooms problems. Check out was the same looong wait 15 minute process only to ask for a copy of our bill

The mattress was pretty hard and the tile in the bathroom was flithy with ground in dirt. I wiped up a bunch of water and the towel was dark brown. It would be nice to have an extra blanket in the rooms for winter months. Breakfast overall was good but all the pastries and breads were hard

It was nice and easy to get too. Liked the room and it was clean, also the attached restaurant

Stayed here for a long weekend. Very nice staff at the front desk and in the breakfast area. Great variety for breakfast, which was kept stocked until they closed, no just letting run down the last hour like some hotels.
