Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz

This hotel was in a great location with friendly staff and a great restaurant. They also have a nice lounge upstairs for guests to relax in. My complaint is that the noise cancelling feature of the room is either minimal or completely missing. The front desk offered me a room with street view and I gladly accepted. Little did I know that there's all kinds of party noises that would either come up from the streets at 3-5 am or from other guests rooms! Also, the city light rail is right outside the hotel so we get to listen to the electrical humming all the time. It was hard to sleep during most of our stay unless you're extremely exhausted and I'm not a light sleeper.

First time I give a property two stars. Our “studio” was so small it would not even be enough for one person with luggage. And I have a picture to show it. The hall entrance was so narrow that two people with jackets cannot go past each other. The closet was so small it could hardly accommodate one carryon.the bed on one side had a table that you had to move to get into the bed and a space so narrow (less than 8”) on the other side against the window, that you had to scuttle sideways if you wanted to get to bed that way. When you travel to tromso, you carry bulky cold weather clothes and coats, so you need room for luggage. Our room had very little, so we had to open one carryon on top of the kitchen counter. The kitchen did not even have paper towels, or any towels. The room had one chair ( the reservation was for two people) and a narrow padded bench. The bathroom: the shower was so small that when you opened the doors, one bumped against the sink and another against the toilet. The price: we paid over $300/night and they charged cleaning fees. Before we left, we got an email with a list of what we need to do including washing the dishes and taking out the trash. So what is the cleaning fee for? Needless to say We were very disappointed

Great location, very comfortable, helpful staff and two fabulous restaurants just around the corner: fjord and Elias. I will probably leave another review later as we are back in the hotel after our tromso trip. Still great.

Excellent value and great location...

First of all, I need to commend the front desk staff for being so friendly and helpful! There was not a single time we passed by the desk that we weren't greeted by the staff. I also greatly appreciated being able to check in early and leave our bags, rather than finding somewhere to store them. Our room had a great view and although the room was small, we found it quite comfortable. The location is great, walking distance to some great shops, restaurants, and the transit system is very robust in this area. There was a bit of noise from the street, so if you are sensitive to that, you may want to use some ear plugs. At the end of the day, I would gladly stay at another Thon hotel.

Very friendly welcome on arrival and this was consistent with all staff throughout our stay. The room was phenomenal and breakfast outstanding. The evening meal on the first night was so good we went back for the following evening. I would not hesitate to recommend; a fantastic hotel and wonderful staff. Thank you.

This is a chic, comfortable hotel very conveniently located - restaurants, shopping, and transportation right there. Staff was always warm and welcoming. Breakfast buffet is lavish - best I’ve seen. Excellent value!
