"A Great Place for Activities"

Marriott Hotel Karachi is a lovely place with great ambiance and music. It has great facilities like a gym and a really varied swimming pool for both Kids and Adults. The staff is really nice especially Irfan at the counter, helped me and my brother with everything. Definitely a must go place if you like activities!

"Food poisoning, week-long bank card delay, and obstructed complaint handling — 1 star"

I stayed at the Karachi Marriott Hotel from 11–22 April 2026 in an Executive Room. I am posting this review after exhausting every private channel with both the property and Marriott International. The food poisoning On 14 April at around 6pm I ordered seekh kebabs with a mint yoghurt dip from in-room dining. Within hours I was severely ill — violent vomiting (including the meal itself, largely undigested), diarrhea, and acute abdominal pain through the night. I had eaten breakfast at the hotel and lunch at a separate restaurant earlier the same day with no symptoms in the five-hour intervening window. The timing pointed clearly to the room service meal. Three weeks on, back in Dubai, I am still experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms and undergoing further testing. The handling The hotel doctor was supposed to attend my room. He didn't. He prescribed remotely by phone while I was bedridden. The cost of the medication was then charged to my room — medication to treat illness from the hotel's own kitchen. Separately, my bank card became stuck in the hotel's in-house ATM on 13 April. I was repeatedly told it would be returned. It was only physically returned on 20 April — around 7 days later. The hotel's position is that the ATM is operated by an external bank and therefore not their responsibility, despite being on their premises and presented as a guest amenity. When I asked for the General Manager's email to escalate the food poisoning complaint, the Assistant F&B Director refused, stating he did not have permission to provide it. The hotel's WhatsApp team also refused on multiple occasions. My initial email to the GM bounced because the property uses a separate local domain I had to identify myself. The investigation The food was "investigated" via a sensory inspection by the Executive Chef and Quality Assurance team — looking for spoilage, smell, discolouration. I asked twice in writing whether actual microbiological laboratory testing was performed. The property did not answer the question in either response. In writing, the property also characterised the phone-only doctor consultation as being "based on my preference" (it wasn't — the doctor did not come) and claimed alternative meals were offered and declined (to my recollection this did not happen, and no record has been produced). The outcome The General Manager confirmed in writing that the property considers the matter closed. The only remedy offered was a Deluxe Suite upgrade on a future stay. I declined. I escalated to Marriott International's Office of Consumer Affairs, whose response — citing a licensing arrangement — was that the property is best placed to handle it and I should contact the GM again. The same GM who had already declared the matter closed. I have the full email correspondence, the medication receipt, photographic evidence of the meal, and the property's responses on file. I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and have stayed at Marriott properties internationally without issue. The Karachi property does not meet the standard the brand is sold on, and the handling of guest complaints — particularly the obstruction of escalation — should be of concern to anyone considering a stay here. Date of stay: April 2026 Trip type: Business Room tip: Avoid in-room dining. If you have a complaint, request the General Manager's email in writing immediately — expect to be refused.

The room itself was clean and the housekeeping team were attentive. Front desk staff were polite when approached.

I asked twice in writing whether laboratory testing was performed; this was not answered. The General Manager confirmed in writing that the matter is closed and offered only a future-stay upgrade. Marriott International's Office of Consumer Affairs declined to engage, citing a licensing arrangement. I have the full correspondence, medication receipt and meal photo on file.

Had an amazing experience hosting my son’s birthday at the poolside of Karachi Marriott Hotel. Everything was perfectly managed and truly on point from start to finish. The food was excellent, the décor looked great, the setup was smooth, and the overall management and service were top notch. The ambiance by the pool just added that extra charm to the whole event. What really stood out was how proactive the staff was. I genuinely didn’t have to worry about a single thing, they handled everything seamlessly, from coordination to last minute details, making the entire experience completely stress free. A special mention to Mr. Muhammad Aslam Bung, Restaurant Manager, who was on his feet throughout and made sure we had the most amazing experience. His attention to detail and hands on approach really showed. Also, a big thanks to Mr. Kamran Ahmed Assistant Director of Food & Beverage for his support in planning and executing the event so smoothly. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’m truly grateful to the entire team for making the day so special. Highly recommended!
