Sigiri Hibiscus Villa

The host is very welcoming and speaks good English. The room is very well presented, and breakfast was nice and varied each day. Parking is available right outside the room.

Excellent Rooms, spotless toilets with toiletries and fluffy clean white towels. Linen smelling fresh and delicious food. All fittings and fixtures are high quality and to European standards. Location is perfect for an early start for Sigiriya (Lion's Rock) cliff. A pleasant 2 min walk to a road lined with local eateries. Superb hospitality by Mori Anna and his lovely family. But that is not why I am writing this review. The concept of Homestay started with a guest getting the first hand feel of a culture. Being welcomed into a home with a personal touch where you are no longer a visitor but a part of this family when you bring back memories of breaking bread with them. Informal and raw. But then this became an industry and slowly 'profit' took the centerstage. Yet, here at Sigiri Hibiscus Villa, I felt the old times come alive. I am a solo woman travelling in Sri Lanka & Mori Anna was like an older brother who ensured every aspect of my stay was like it would be for his own sister. He would pick me lemons form the villa's backyard which is like a paradise. Lovingly squeeze them and make me a refreshing sweet lime drink like I were his spoilt little sister. He noticed I was low on local currency, so drove me around to local sites on his motorbike, not just to save me money, but to also ensure my safety. He would softly come and ask me if I need him to fix me something to eat. "Tell me what you feel like eating, it will be ready." Mori Anna comes from a very influential & prestigious Sigiri family. They have many properties here, so you are always in good hands. This is only a glimpse into how it felt to live at Sigiri Hibiscus Villa. I cannot fit everything here. As far as the quality of the property goes, this should ideally be a 4* establishment. I am rubbish at photos so the pictures don't do justice to the property.

We loved everything about the property, tucked away in the jungle but local enough to shops and restaurants. The villa had the best WiFi out of all the hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. The people who owned the property were so lovely, helpful and couldn’t do enough for you!

Das Zimmer und das Badezimmer waren angenehm groß und sehr sauber – ein Pluspunkt für den Komfort. Der Gastgeber war aufmerksam, auch wenn die Kommunikation nicht immer ganz unkompliziert war. In der Umgebung gibt es mehrere Restaurants, sodass man gut essen gehen kann.

Centrally located but quiet. Beautiful family homestay with clean facilities, amazing home cooked breakfast and refreshing tea in a quiet location back from the road. Mora and Chuti were wonderful hosts with great suggestions of places to see and eat. Highly recommend and would happily stay again on our next trip to Sigiriya!

Great location for Lions Rock, beautiful jungle garden which a peacock strutted through while I was having delicious home cooked breakfast on the terrace outside my room. Dinners also fabulous Sri Lankan food. Also catered for my gluten intolerance without any problems. Lovely family looked after me really well and I would have extended my stay if I could have.

The room was spotless, so clean and comfortable for our stay. The host could not do enough for us, he was so friendly and we enjoyed the odd chat here and there about our day. We had a lovely breakfast on our last morning which was exactly what we wanted. It had rained heavy on one of our days and the aircons dry feature in the room works a treat to make sure the room doesn’t feel damp at all. Again, super clean room, lovely host and beautiful green surroundings. It is close to many restaurants also.
