Athanasia's House

Great location at the top of the Kali strata with a supermarket, bakery and great restaurants and bars nearby. Nice area with a lovely atmosphere. Big comfy bed Newly decorated throughout Netflix on TV

We were collected from the port by a lovely friendly driver, but when we got to the room there were no keys. After searching for a while and making some calls the driver said 'This always happens'. He apologised and asked us to wait by the room for someone else to return with the keys. Not a big deal. When another gentleman arrived with the keys he opened the door and then left us - there was no info in the room regarding the WiFi, so we had to message the host for the password. Then decided to take a shower after our journey and discovered one of the towels was stained and there was no hot water. No instructions to tell us how to turn it on, but we managed to find the switch panel to sort it out. We had booked the room specifically as it had a washing machine as we were travelling light while island hopping and wanted to do some washing. The machine would not turn on, so I messaged the host again to be told it was new and he would arrange for someone to come and connect it. To be fair someone arrived at 8.30 the next morning and after they had chiselled a hole in the wall and connected everything, I put some washing on a quick wash. Everything seemed fine but when I returned to check 10 minutes later, the room was flooded with water and we had a clean up job on our hands. At this point I'd really had enough of messaging the host with questions and just wanted to enjoy my time in Symi.. I feel that the listing was not honest - advertised facilities should be ready for use from check in and it should not be a guest's responsibility to deal with tradesmen to fix issues. The listing also said there would be wine on arrival and a safety deposit box but neither were provided. In addition the picture of the bathroom is taken from the street through an open window which makes it appear bigger. The bathroom is actually tiny.

The view from the property of the harbour was fantastic. Air conditioning worked well.

It was a perfect stay in Athanasia's House. The host was really caring and wanted to be sure if everything was ok during our stay. They picked us from the ferry and dropped back there while we return. The place is spacious for 2 people, and also convenient for 3 as well. The view from the house and balcony was amazing. You have to climb a lot of stairs to get there but it's not a problem with a little bit of rest. We enjoyed the restaurants up there and didn't need to go down for dinner.
