The breakfast and evening buffets were extremely good and varied. In the evenings the hot dishes were varied every day as were the deserts. The subdued extremely low lighting during the night was really nice as well as the absence of carpets in the bedroom. The situation is quiet, really idyllic and isolated with a vista over the valley, in large well kept grounds (e.g., topiary on some of the trees) and good parking space. Hot water being immediately available on turning on the shower was nice. It is an ideal place from which to organize walking/hiking and visits to places of interest, e.g. wellness centers/spas in the North Hartz mountains.

We occasionally missed there not being any elevators in the hotel. However, the staff were there with help for carrying baggage. The lighting in the reading area is too low to be able to read unless you are reading on your phone or reading e-books. TV offered only German programs although there was access to other routes like Netflix. The wine, aperitif and cocktail lists were very limited. Some of the large inner areas near the sauna could be aired more often
