Zaimoku-an

Beautiful traditional-style house. Very close to castle, parks, and historic district.

Quiet and well located. Beautifully presented and made to feel very welcome. We were collected from the train station and introduced to the property and local area of interest.

The kitchen is well equipped but it’s difficult for elderly as they are not used to sit in the floor/tatami. They can’t stand up really after they sit down.

There is only one bathroom and all beds are tatami style. A lot of the facilities are worn out. One of the PS2 joystick is spoiled and the games are outdated. The washing machine and dryer can’t manage heavy loads (5 sets of pj) and is noisy during operation (worried that we will disturb others). It is located in front of a one way road that we can’t drive into which make loading and unloading of luggage challenging. The stairs up and down to the game room and other bedroom is too narrow for any luggage.

Michio is a great host and I can highly recommend this Ryokan and it's super central located as well!

Everything was great. The owner collected us from the station. Very close to Kenrokuen gardens and the Higashi district. Nice quiet area. Bakery next door. Highly recommend Hari for a meal in the evening. Close to the property, lovely staff and excellent food.

No comfy chairs/settee to sit on at night.
