Peabody Memphis

Beautiful hotel. We were there on a Thursday night and they encouraged us to attend a free party on the roof with live music. It was wild and interesting to see the view. After we left we could hear the noise in our room, but they quit about 10pm. (I think this is a summer once a week thing.) We saw the ducks parade from the fountain to the elevator. The duck master told quite a long story, but watching it one time was interesting. I would have preferred to be at a bar table near the fountain where it would be more comfortable for the longish ritual, but at least we could see from the mezzanine. It was really crowded. The hotel is old but our room, although small, was nice and well decorated. We enjoyed a drink at the bar with more live music. The gift shop had lots of cute souvenirs including duckies. We parked at the hotel for a fee. Especially nice for one night.

The loudness of the common areas& I understand you can’t control that. I wish the gift shop had longer hours as I missed shopping there.

Location was excellent and the ducks are adorable and a highlight of course. The hotel itself is elegant and the decor is beautiful.

I am under 5 feet tall and the bed was so high I had a very hard time getting up into it and had to climb on a chair. I left with bruises! The toilet was phantom flushing all night the first night and kept me up all night. I told a staff member in the morning and it was not fixed until I made a second request at 7 pm. I pre-ordered a refrigerator for my medication and they said it would be there but was t when I arrived. I told a staff member, but guess what? The fridge never appeared. On the first night there was a huge bug that looked like a roach on the bathroom that I took care of myself and never saw another so I didn’t report that. Overall, for the cost, it was disappointing. Upon checkout, they removed the hotel services fee for the 2 night stay that came to about $20.

The Peabody is iconic, and it absolutely lives up to the praise it gets in TripAdvisor reviews. It should be ranked even higher - We consider it the #1 hotel in Memphis. It’s a perfect place to stay when visiting Memphis, especially since it puts you right in the middle of everything, including legendary Beale Street. The hotel itself is beautiful, but the real showstopper is the famous Duck Walk. At 11:00 a.m., the duck master leads the ducks out of the elevator and down the red carpet to the fountain, and the crowd starts gathering long before it begins. Then at 5:00 p.m., the parade happens in reverse as the ducks make their way back home to the roof. It’s such a fun, classic Memphis experience that it alone is worth the visit. The guest rooms are spacious, the mattresses are wonderfully comfortable, and the service is top-notch. Every staff member we met was warm, friendly, and helpful. Everything about The Peabody is well done, and it makes for a fantastic stay. If you’re headed to Memphis, make The Peabody your home base.
