Sultana larache

In the midst of a characterful Moroccan medina is Sultana Larache, an oasis of calm and genteel charm. Run by an exceedingly helpful family and their team, my sea view room had a fabulous view and very was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and I was treated like royalty. How wonderful.

Owner:Manager could not have been more helpful, really welcoming and a lovely property, once you are in it.

The location of the property is a challenge to get to and I didn’t feel particularly safe at night to be honest. There isn’t an alternative route to the property and you need to make your way on foot through a challenging social environment.

A beautiful riad in the medina with great craftmanship renovated. Very friendly hosts. Generous breakfast. Nice view on the ocean and harbour. Quiet, comfortable and clean. Nearby a guarded parking lot.

Rarely in my frequent hotel stays around the world, for work or pleasure, I felt so welcomed, with discretion and infinite kindness. I was lucky to meet Asma, to get advice on how to spend our family time, to taste her cuisine, to listen to her stories and these are just some of the privileges of having stayed in this splendid Riad. Restored and decorated with meticulous care and refinement, nothing banal or predictable, everything extremely clean. Larache itself doesn’t offer a lot, but to stay at Sultana worth the trip. The scent of orange blossoms as soon as you enter, the delicacy and kindness of Asma, the helpfulness of the staff.. from the first moments I understood that it would be a perfect stay! And so it was! A special thanks then for the attention and availability with which a particular dietary request for two people in my family was managed. Simply, again, thank you!

C’est un très beau Riad décoré avec goût. L’ambiance y est très sereine. Nos hôtes Haziz et Asma nous ont merveilleusement accueillis et nous ont conseillés dans nos visites. Les petits déjeuners étaient fantastiques !!! Encore un grand merci

This is the only hotel located in the Medina and one of the few riads that have been renovated. The owners are very kind and welcoming.

Getting to the hotel with suitcases is difficult (a porter helped us). The Medina is rather squalid. The rooms are very small and there is no direct daylight (except on the top floor), giving a claustrophobic feeling. Even the family room we booked for the two of us was cramped with a mezzanine floor right above the bed. The room smelt musty (there is only one small window facing out to a wall) with the two other windows facing inside. The windows did not have sufficient curtaining to give sufficient darkness in the early morning. The bed mattress was lumpy and we did not get a good night’s sleep. The hot water for a shower is only available in the morning but not at evening – something we found out only after 11pm - we felt unable to wake up the owners. There are no bedside lights which make navigating the trip hazards across the floor towards the bathroom rather dangerous. There is no mini-fridge in the room or in the dining room which, at the room price point levied, seems ungenerous. We had paid for two nights but decided to leave after one night. We did write a WhatsApp thanking the owners for their kindness and explaining some of these issues that had caused our unwillingness to stay for another night. He sent some of the very good reviews he had received and wrote “No comment” in response to our issues. No refund was made.

Great Riad! Simple & elegant...with great attention to details. We had the room with the terrace on the roof with a beautiful view of the harbor and ocean. One of the best Moroccan breakfasts we have had and definitely the best coffee. Service was over and above the call of duty - Ali walked with us to the restaurant, for example. And, Aziz, one of the owners, made us feel at home and was full of great travel recommentions. Thank you! Hope to be back soon!

A little hard to find but upon a phone call, the owner sent Ali to meet us in the parking lot and help us with our luggage.
