Castleyards Apartment 12

Great location for travel to Neolithic sites (the main purpose of our visit) as well as local sights, groceries and restaurants. Good basic accommodation and value for money.

Shower was small with slippery floor (significant for older folks). We noticed an occasional musty odour in the kitchen and hall.

The apartment is within easy walking distance of everything you need in Kirkwall, from the supermarkets to the Earl's Palace to the restaurants and the ferry to the northern isles. The kitchen is very well equipped and it's a good hob, and tea, coffee, and milk is provided. Communication with David was excellent beforehand, too.

At a push, I'd suggest they could have curtains rather than blinds for the long summer days, and it's worth noting there's no cooking oil or herbs and so on provided with the kitchen. But none of that was a big issue.

Location was excellent. Everything you need for self-catering was available

This apartment was warm, clean, comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen. The location was perfect, quiet and private. The host went out of his way to get us in earlier as it was raining.
