The property is about a ten-minute walk from Andingmen bus stop after an approximately 30-minute bus ride from PEK Terminal 3. Beijing 161 Drum Towel Hotel is located in a Hutong, with nearest subway station being Guloudajie (Lines 2 and 8). I don't recommend using Google Maps because the pin isn't at the right location despite the address, I navigated just fine using Baidu Maps. I liked that the hotel felt really homely, there is a large communal table in the lobby and a mezzanine that I didn't use. Not sure about the other rooms in the property, but I had duplex room with a skylight! The room is very well-equipped, I was toasty warm even though it's subzero outside! Staff were really friendly and helpful, one of them even helped me mail a package! On the whole, I had a wonderful stay at Beijing 161 Drum Tower Hotel.

"Modern Hutong in the centre of Beijing"

Small but lovely place for a real Chinese experience. Modern bathroom and living area, comfortable bed. No breakfast, yet many places within walking distance. And close, 5 minute walk to subway station.

Amazing staff! Probably the warmest/best set I have encountered in over 1000 hotel nights. Very helpful. Spotlessly clean. However, this is at the edge of the tourist zone, and can be hard to find, so if you want to be in the middle of tourist action, not the place for you. A small hole-in-the-wall restaurant next door served good breakfast, and many restaurants are between 10 and 20 minutes away by walk. Subway station is very close.

It was pleasant and comfortable, with very friendly and helpful staff who spoke very good English (important for me as my Chinese is poor). The area is very interesting, characteristic of an older (and less prosperous) China than the glittering modern parts of the cities. It is well placed for sightseeing, within walking distance of the Drum and Bell Towers, and very near a subway station. The hotel was difficult to find in a maze of alleys! Neither Google Maps nor our didi driver could locate it more than approximately. Local people we asked had never heard of it. We found it only because one local man walking his dog, who had not heard of it, came back to tell us he had noticed it for the first time after our inquiry! In turn, we were later able to show the way to another traveler whom we saw wandering about the alleys looking lost. Our otherwise pleasant bedroom had no windows. This felt a little claustrophobic, and gave us no idea in the mornings what the weather outside was going to be like.
