Areca Hotel Nha Trang

Every part of the hotel was spacious, from the lobby to the pool deck. The room was also spacious and the condition remained quite new after all these years. It was our third time at this hotel and we kept returning to it. Motor bike hire is also decently priced compared to other places (150k dongs per day). Staff are most helpful.

Although the hotel and their staff are not responsible for the motor bike hire, be mindful that the contractor (or lessor/vendor) would deliver the bike with little fuel. The hotel kitchen should consider plant-based milk (such as soy, almond, oat and coconut milk).

Great value for money

The breakfast was poor.

We treated ourselves in Nha Trang and stayed at the Areca Hotel in there suite room.So my review is based on this room. It was fantastic! With a great view, a living area with a huge smart t.v.., 2 bathrooms one with a large bathtub, a huge comfy bed. The room was cleaned every day and it was very clean. It had 2 aircon units ,so you could put the one in the living area on at night making sleeping very good. The staff were excellent especially the reception staff. There are good coffee/ food places in walking distance. They have a great clean, deep roof top pool and a gym.

The buffet breakfast was ok, you can get eggs made or have a traditional vietnamese soup, occasionlly we would go and very little food would be left as tour groups had been. Noise from the temple? Across the road would wake us up early so ear plugs fixed that problem. Its a bit far to the beach, u can walk 10/15mins, but grabs are cheap/quick.

Smoking smell in the room

My booking didn't come with breakfast and I never visited the onsite restaurant, I'm not even sure of its hours or what it serves. My room was very big and the aircon was excellent. The housekeeping staff and indeed all the staff were great. The whole place was very clean.

Personally, as a European, I think I picked a bad location. I couldn't fault the hotel, apart from 2 things, that I will mention, but all around the area was I suppose what you could call real Vietnamese. For me the food was not good and very much reflected the food I had in China. I ended up spending a lot of time in another part of town which to me was more European friendly. That is not to say I wasn't eating Vietnamese food, I ate a lot of that, but food that was not fat, gristle and bone. In the hotel room the TV didn't have an HDMI input. For personal reasons I had intended to spend a lot of time watching streaming on TV, but I couldn't. There was a lack of plug sockets anywhere around the huge 'desk' area, and indeed both the TV and desk lamp were just wired to the mains by twisting wires together.

This was an older hotel but in good condition, Hotel near the old part of the city and within a kilometre of the beach. 17 floors. Pool in the roof. Oddly closes at 6 PM. You can book with or without breakfast. There’s a nice café on the ground floor for drinks and smoothies, etc.

Staff appear not to be trained in international hospitality. You have to ask for the service and they will happily do it, if they understand. But you have to make sure they understand. A “yes” doesn’t mean they did understand you.
