Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza

Very nice visit. Located walking distance to plaza. Hallways and room very dark but that kind of goes with the Southwest motif.

The location was perfect being adjacent to the downtown area. We were able to walk to museums and restaurants. My complaint was regarding customer service. I wanted to swim in the pool before my husband and I began our day of sightseeing. I went to the pool at 8:00 in the morning only to find it locked. Nowhere were there posted hours. I then went to the lobby to ask when it would open, I was told 9:00. As I am wearing my bathing suit, and have my water weights with me I asked if it would be possible to open the pool for me. I was told “No, the rule is that the pool doesn’t open until 9:00 and you have to follow the rules.” My experience with hotel swimming pools is that generally they are open from 7:00 to 10:00. And, what was the big deal if the pool was opened an hour sooner. It’s not as if there are life guards. The young woman needs a professional development class on how to speak to a customer.

Did not like paying for parking. Rooms were very dark.

As With most thing New Mexico, the landscaping around the hotel was really just natural weeds. There had been no attempt to remove the roots and add mulch. The tops were trimmed with a string trimmer and left where they fell. Most of the hotel was clean. However in our room the shower grout showed obvious signs of mildew. Especially in the corners. The hotel staff were great.

Housekeeping was lazy - no toilet paper - not enough towels - no restaurant service - patio furniture had not cushions.

This hotel is in a lovely historic building and it is lovely. The room we were in was clean and nice. The restaurant is good, and there is coffee and water present for guests. Otherwise the experience was not what it could have been due to desk staffing. This aspect was an aberration from my normal experience at Hilton Hotels. The desk clerks were not very knowledgeable, they did not offer us the Hilton perks to which we were entitled without asking. Several times there was no one at the desk and we ended up waiting around. Requests for additional towels went unanswered. I do think this location is lovely, and there is much to recommend this hotel if they can work out the staffing problems. Otherwise, although I am usually loyal to Hilton, I would stay elsewhere if I wanted to stay near the square in downtown Santa Fe.

Staff were awesome! The location was excellent and close to the Plaza and many great restaurants. I was a little worried reading some of the reviews, but shortly after arriving I wondered if I was in the same facility as the negative reviews were intended. I had an issue with the Booking.com reservation and the correct accounting numbers not being in the Hilton system. Booking.com were not helpful in resolving the issue but Alex and Wes at the front desk were able to resolve the issue.

That Booking.com have become pretty unhelpful whenever I have had issues. While staying in 20 different worldwide locations in the last 12 months, I had technical problems with two reservations and in neither case were Booking.com able to effectively resolve the issues. Hilton staff resolved this one and the last one finally resolved itself without it becoming what could have been a big problem. This degradation in customer support is too bad because Booking,com have in the past have been very good and the reason that I have used them along with being able to have all my stays organized in one place.

The location is the only reason to stay here

Loud AC, poorly outfitted bathroom and amenities, unwelcoming front desk staff
