Malmaison Glasgow

The location, the building itself, the staff.

Just the pillows, work up with a stiff neck. 2 was too much, 1 was not enough...

We chose Malmaison because of its' central location; we were greeted by a very experienced and instantly likeable reception manager who did a great job of welcoming us to the hotel. Our room was well equipped and comfortable - we felt like Malmaison provided good value for money. Breakfast was excellent as was the service throughout.

The one major downside with Malmaison is that there is literally nowhere to park - not even to load/unload luggage! Whilst we checked with the hotel first and were assured that we could park momentarily to unload our luggage, we were given a £50.00 Parking Charge Notice from a rather aggressive Traffic Warden. Not a great start to our Glasgow adventure and enough to put us off the hotel and ever visiting Glasgow again!! (For balance, please note that Malmaison compensated us with complimentary breakfast and were extremely apologetic).

We felt the communal areas were decorated in a tasteful manner, bordering on urban/alternative sort of style which we really liked. Made the hotel appear unique.

Personally we felt the room wasn’t very clean, splattered grease like stains on the grey walls. Miscellaneous staining all over the white skirting boards. The couches were very worn, scuffed up and the cushions deflated and seen better days. The bathroom was also a little worse for wear- black mould in the caulk around the bath, also the unit in which the sink is situated on was completely water damaged. The stairs leading up to the bed creaked terribly when walking up, considering the room booked was a suite we were extremely disappointed to the standard of our stay. We didn’t even end up staying the night because of this, we politely made up and excuse and checked out the hotel.

No parking but could park outside overnight

10/10 for Kyle👏👏 He impressed my whole group with his cocktail and wine knowledge which is very rare for a bartender now a days… great guy and very chatty I will be back for more cocktails😉
