Copley Square Hotel, a FOUND Hotel

Value: 3/5 - Booked the non-studio King room ~2 months ago through the hotel website for the "best rate". - ~$420 a night seemed steep for what you get, but likely due to timing (graduation) and location (Back Bay). I understand that other hotels in the area cost much more. Learned that rates dropped by half during our stay. Sent a polite email to the manager, but never got a response. - Location is close to several stations: Back Bay station for the T (orange line) and Amtrak and Copley (green line). - Hotel has 2 elevators. One is extremely small. The other is regular sized if you have more luggage or people. Both are very slow. Amenities: 3/5 - Our room had an in-room safe, small fridge/freezer, hair dryer, ironing, and toiletries. Scratchy towels. NO microwave or in-room coffee maker. - Common room is on the ground floor with a microwave, coffee machine, and vending machines with actually reasonably priced items, along with contraception! - No on-site guest laundry even though they have a sign that says they do. Cleanliness: 5/5 Comfort: 4/5 - Bed was a little soft for me, and the space is very small. AC had trouble cooling off to a comfortable sleeping temp. The common areas were very warm, so we were sweating. - Bathroom hardware needs fixing. Shower plate was loose. Sink cabinet edges were worn, scuffed, and scratched. Took a bit to understand how to get the right temp and pressure. - Room 710 facing Dexter was quiet enough, though surrounding rooms weren't. Ambiance: 5/5 - Room and hotel in a modern but semi-historical style. - Cute, elegant little bar and cafe downstairs. Their french toast and bread pudding were amazing! Service: 4/5 - Front desk: Friendly but had trouble understanding during check-in that we wanted to store our luggage downstairs because we were in a hurry to drop off our rental car.

Pictures hide the old, small and dirty points of this hotel. Had such high hopes for this hotel … sooo disappointed. Rooms are tragically small, bathroom even smaller. Old is one thing but dirty is another. Walls, corners, elevators filthy. Expected so much more from this hotel.

We stayed in the King on the seventh floor. The hotel is reasonably priced but has a lot of wear and tear. We have been in other boutique hotels but this one when you check in and take the elevators you feel a bit of concern am I checking in to a nice place. Even the hotel sign shows wear and tear. The room was very spacious and bed was comfy and the view through the windows were great but the bathroom was extremely small with no counter space. I booked a room with the desk and it was extremely small. The hotel also doesn't make sure there are plugs available by the night stands which in todays day and age is must. The staff was very nice at the front desk and the maid staff were friendly. The Hue restaurant next door is very good. The location is great very close to a supermarket and shopping that is why the place received a 4.
