A nice opportunity to dress up, and great that the vegans in our group were catered for. But they hit a bum note with the music (literally) - not excessively loud but annoyingly thump, thump, thump in the background and definitely not in keeping with an environment which seemed to aspire to some degree of elegance - via mirrors, antique style furniture and chandeliers. Why not some gentle classical piano, or even smooth jazz? What were they thinking here? And my idea of a high tea includes at least one or two delicate sandwiches. The teas were sometimes luke-warm - I can see this is a challenge with the variety provided, but that's something they should be on top of.

So disappointed with service. Arrived just after 10pm due to delayed ferry only to be told no bar, no food, no room service. But we can park your car for 50 nzd. Pathetic

Very comfortable, central and great vibe.

The staff are the real stand outs here. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by the most incredible people. Dom at reception was a real stand out - helped me with a really stressful situation with great care.

My view of the roof next store - but that’s just being picky

The location was good.

Our room was on the 1st floor and we heard loud thumping noises a lot. Also, there was a sewer type smell in our room. There was an air purifier running in the bathroom but every couple minutes it made a funny noise so we took the battery out. We told the staff about the smell on 2 different occasions and about the noise and our dissatisfaction with the room. We were thanked for our feedback but there was never any offer to do something about it. It was definitely not worth the cost of this room.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during our tour of New Zealand. The hotel looks pretty ugly externally and the dark corridors are awful but it is very clean. The location and views are excellent. I loved the two lane 17m pool which is open from 6am and is filled with light as it has a glass roof. The hotel is a bit shabby as it’s a while since it opened. There’s a great laundry not too far away and Charley Noble’s is excellent for food. Cafe Neo is a superb wee coffee shop which almost has a queue, but is worth the wait.

loved the brekky included. wished it was made clearer that the a la carte choices were part of it along with the buffet which was not clear on first day. Wish there had been oat milk as an option as that was not on the buffet table. Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. All staff very professional and friendly. I have been before and the quirky arty feel suits me just fine! well located as well so all in all a great stay although the price is a tad high to be fair.

Price was a bit high as stated. and see above for other details. Found the black interior of the lift, passageways and the cupboards a bit challenging - would pay to have more light.
