Tivoli Alvor Algarve - All Inclusive Resort

We visited Tivoli Alvor with our son, his wife and 3 year old granddaughter. What a fantastic hotel; friendly & efficient welcome at reception. We were able to book the a’ la carte restaurants for the week on arrival. A quick buggy ride to the rooms which were lovely, big comfy beds, a fridge with bottled water and a really nice shower. The buffet breakfast was ample with plenty of options of hot and cold food. Lunch too was great, though we took to eating in Salty where pizza, panini and toasties are served, with a buffet salad and dessert options. If you fancy a hot dog, burger or steak, you can grab that in the cook out area, and sit in Salty (or take it to your sun bed if you don’t want to miss a moment of sun. There’s icecream, coffee & cake and popcorn served in the main entertainment marquee, where the main bar is. A kids disco every day at 5:30pm and evening entertainment starting at 9pm. But, take some ear defenders, the sound level is akin to an AC/DC concert, It’s unnecessarily loud. Especially for younger ones. If you want a quieter drink Shore is open from 10am til late in the evening. If I have a criticism here it’s at the lack of family seating. There were an awful lot of high tables and stools that were often unused with couples sat at the more comfortable seating for groups. Of course they’re entitled to do that, it just made sitting with the little one difficult. During the day there are 4 pools to choose, one of which is adult only, in a quiet spot just in front of the main restaurant. Our little one loved the kids splash park where there were always sun beds available. In fact there were always sun beds available all over the site. One of the photos over looking the pools was taken at 9:20 am the other at 7:45 pm. The hotel staff were all very friendly, and particularly good with kids. If you want to get away from the pool for a while the little train/bus runs into Alvor which is a lovely little village with plenty of bars and restaurants. We booked a boat trip while we were there BUT for the caves of Benagil boats don’t leave from Alvor. We booked with Welcome Boat Trips & Fishing Who picked us up from the hotel took as to the port and brought us back after the tour. The guide was great, the tour was excellent. We took advantage too of free entry at Zoomarine, which is a brilliant day out for all. We did choose to book a taxi to Zoomarine via the Hotel which was €100 for 5 of us. An Uber would have been €60, we just preferred the assurance of a cab booked via the hotel. Just to touch back on the food: we never struggled with the buffet food, there was plenty of choice. Of the à la carte restaurants we all agreed that the Italian was our favourite, but the starter buffet at Mad Med was fantastic. We all agreed, if (when) we return to Portugal, the Tivoli Alvor would be our first choice.

We have just returned from Tivoli and had an amazing time. The food was great, with plenty of choice at the buffet. We ate at the Italian restaurant twice and it was absolutely stunning. The staff were very friendly, kept our wine topped up, and couldn’t do enough for us. We ate at Roastic once, which was also very nice, but we personally preferred the Italian. That’s probably just down to personal preference, as I generally prefer Italian food. As for Mad Med, I personally wouldn’t bother booking it again and would choose the Italian or Roastic instead. The train that takes you into town is fantastic, and it’s also very easy to get an Uber. We used Uber a couple of times and found it very reasonably priced. We visited Zoo Marine, which was included in our stay as we stayed for 10 days. I would recommend using Uber rather than the taxi service offered by the hotel, as the hotel taxi was €30 each way, while Uber was around €18 each way. The White Party and Tropical Party were amazing. The other entertainment was also very good, although it didn’t really keep my 6 year old’s attention. I also found the mini disco being at 5:30pm a little too early, but that may just be personal preference. There are two minor points I would mention. The bottom pool appeared noticeably dirtier than the middle pool, to the point where I chose not to swim in it one day. I wasn’t sure whether this was because water drains down to that pool, but there was a clear difference in cleanliness between the two. Secondly, some of the stones around the pool area appear to be coming loose and end up in the pool. I think these could do with being relaid. These are very minor issues, and overall the resort is kept extremely clean. The rooms were spotless and all of the staff were lovely. We would definitely return.

This has been the best holiday our family has had. The hotel is exceptional. The cleanliness, the staff, the whole experience has been a delight. The rooms are clean and spacious and well catered for. The food has a wide variety for all meal times and in between they have a great snack bar. The kids had plenty to choose from and have a good selection of vegetarian foods. Everything on site is well informed where to go and what to do outside of the hotel. There’s a regular bus taking you outside the hotel into town for a change of scenery and the Ubers are magic. There is plenty going on throughout the day at the hotel with lots of activities for the kids and a games area and football and tennis courts. For us the entertainment staff really made our holiday. Through the day they have lots going on around the pool and the evening entertainment is so much fun. We especially enjoyed the tropical party and the white party. They are the friendliest, nicest, kindest staff and they really made our holiday. Thankyou to the reception staff JJ and a big thankyou to Paulo and the rest of his team on the entertainment crew. It was amazing !!!

Hotel and facilities were exceptional. Staff friendly all areas. Good for families and young children. There was no area in the evening where you had entertainment for adults, like a singer. Agree with plastic glasses at the pool area, but at night did not like plastic glasses being used. Really good Hotel but definitely not for couples on their own .

Having read all reviews about this hotel on the run up to our holiday we were a bit concerned as there were a lot of mixed reviews which didn’t appear to be as positive as when we initially booked. But I can safely say this holiday was amazing. The hotel and all its facilities and staff exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by Mara on reception, who was really friendly, very helpful and extremely understanding of our needs and went out of her way to ensure our needs were met. We had issues booking the al a cart restaurants ourself but Goncalo in Hospitality was more than happy to make all restaurant booking and arranged all our excursions. Carosello Massive thank you to MINHAZUL & NUMA constantly kept our drinks topped up and was very attentive . Kids menu provided a good choice, my son ate from the kids menu on our 1st visit then the main menu on the 2nd visit. On our second visit the restaurant had power issue which delayed taking order & food being cooked which couldn’t be helped NUNA couldn’t apologise enough and kept us update on progress, once normal service was resumed order was taken & food delivered swiftly. Roastic - we ate twice here Food was amazing, perfectly cooked and briming with flavour. Kids menu provided a good choice. Premium plus well worth the extra money for the additional choice of drinks & breakfast service Breakfast in the Premium area provided a less chaotic morning, the addition to choice of eggs freshly cooked eggs was a great addition to breakfast. One morning we were really let down as we waited 20 minutes watching many other orders coming out which were take after ours , it appears our order was forgotten somehow ! SAYANA looked after us a few mornings she was so friendly and nothing was to much bother for her, she made a real effort to interact with my son which was a lovely touch. Essenze - Buffet lunch & dinner provided a great selection of food always able to choose something you wanted the only down side was I thought that they could have provided more children’s options. Salty - provided a good selection of food so ate there a few time to avoid the busy buffet area. The BBQ went down a storm with my son who was more than happy to gab a hot dog or a burger on a few occasions. The housekeeping team work really hard to keep rooms spotless daily. Bar service was brilliant after being here a few hours the bar staff at Shore bar knew your order. Evening entertainment is good but a little repetitive as it’s mainly dance shows. Found the magic show and quiz night a bit boring. The White party night was by far the best night of entertainment. Overall we had an amazing holiday definitely would look to come back and recommend to others

Had the most wonderful week here on a family holiday!! Would definitely recommend visiting the Carosello restaurant. Shuhag, Minhazul, Abedin and Nazim were wonderful servers, so friendly and attentive!!
