"As enjoyable as our previous stay."

9.0

It’s set in a great location for exploring the Peak District. Staff are friendly and helpful and food was good. Room and bathroom were very clean.

The bedrooms are up a steep flight of stairs so not great for those with mobility issues. This is our second stay so it didn’t put us off!

The hotel is located just outside the Chatsworth Estate, with stunning scenery. Hotel had plenty of "free to park" spaces. Good/easy check in, met with a smile by Laura, she showed us to our room (01) & explained everything concerning the hotel. Room was clean, tidy & in good order, with a nice king size bed. We prebooked breakfast & also had dinners in the restaurant. Good menue choices for both. Spending time in a service industry, I noticed front of house operated smoothly even coping well with the odd hiccup. The staff appeared to be working very hard. The only slight comment (& not under the hotel's control) was that it is located on a busy road with traffic going past 24/7, which we are not used to, coming from a quiet village.

"Very pleasant stay in a pretty village."

8.0

The room was comfortable and clean and well equipped for a one-night stay. The pub has an excellent garden with plenty of shady seating and good facilities for children. The shower room is small but clearly newly re-done and very clean. Great location with Chatsworth next door and also lots of lovely walking from the door. Breakfast was very good value with plenty of options. Great welcome from the staff who were very attentive and friendly. Plenty of parking space. Baslow is a very attractive village with several other pubs, cafes and facilities, which we would like to visit again - would happily stay here again to do so.

There is some road noise which is unavoidable. Nowhere in the shower room to hang towels to dry.

"Country hospitality done right"

8.0

This place is a little treasure. The staff are lovely and really chatty and interesting. The food is great, rooms are comfortable. You can walk to Chatsworth House across the fields which is how Jane Austen would have done it (beautiful!).

It is on the main road, and my room was at the front. But actually it was not as loud as I thought it might be! I only woke up once.
