"Nice room but a little difficult to find"

8.0

If you’ve been to Riomaggiore you know that everything is up the side of the mountain. That was true for Vento di Grecale. We went up and up the hill trying to find the name of the street. Google maps told us we had gone too far so we had to turn back. We finally found the door. It’s in a tiny alley way on the other side of a small church (Oratorio de Nostra Signora Assunta). We had to ring the owner who brought the key but where we were staying was up the alley, up some more stairs, up to another house, up some more stairs. Once we got there the room was quite nice. Very clean and a good size. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had everything we needed. It was also very quiet though close to plenty of bars and restaurants. All in all I enjoyed staying here. It seemed a really authentic Riomaggiore experience. Just pack light because you have to drag your bags up a lot of stairs.

The room was fine however it was nearly impossible to open the door as the manager did not show us the “trick” with the key and the ancient lock. Also, Hotels.com did not give me the address of the reception office, only the room address and we thought we were locked out for the night when we arrived. We pounded on the door until another guest opened the door and told us the check in was down the street.

"Great home base for discovering the Cinque Terre"

8.0

We enjoyed our stay in Riomaggiore! The hotel is centrally located, but beware that Google maps will lead you on a much longer walk to the hotel than necessary. Simply go up via Colombo until you see a little church on your right (Oratorio di Nostra Signora Assunta in Cielo). Turn right and the hotel reception will be straight ahead. We stayed in the room on the ground floor, which was spacious, comfortable, and clean but only had one window at the far end. This isn't the place to stay if you're hoping for a room with a view, but it's great if you need a nice place to rest your head at the end of a day exploring the Cinque Terre. The pillows were not great (way too thick for us) but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom recently remodeled. We did get some basic toiletries but since daily service isn't included, I would bring extra soap and shampoo. Overall, this was a great home base for discovering the Cinque Terre at a very reasonable price.

Was very clean. We have stayed 3 nights no one came to check the room which resulted in leaving us with no toilet paper and shower gel sachets
