Skärgårdshotellet Hönö

Great waterfront location at the harbour of Klåva, on Hönö. Pleasant building and restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. When I was there, it was breakfast and lunch only, no dinner. There are other eating places at the harbour, notably the beautifully located Tullhuset, with a fine cuisine and water on two sides. The hotel breakfast is fine, with freshly baked bread. The staff are friendly but rather laid back, not hugely communicative. The island is bigger than I had expected: If you are without a car you need to take a bus from the mainland ferry, same tariff system as Gothenburg, regular services. I had a pleasant three days here: Getting up early for sunrise, walking, looking and, yes, even swimming, although it was September. (There is a little cove called Hästen, about 15-20 minutes' walk away., You can walk to it over the rocks or, if you are mildly impaired in your mobility, you can walk along the quiet road.) I spent a lot of time just sitting and reading at the harbour and/or watching the boats. The weather was that way during my stay.

The room felt small because a part of the ceiling is very low, cramping your space and obstructing the view out of the window. Ask for a seaview, which would have been a major improvement. The room was a little pricey, considering that it was September. In bad weather, there is nowhere to sit and read: you would have to lie on your own bed all day. This is why I reduced the evaluation from eight to seven. There was just one small seating corner indoors:; in bad weather, one might wish for more comfortable facilities. There is no access to the central lobby, when the restaurant is closed (from 4pm, when I was there).

Skærgårdshotellet er et sted med en gennemført lækker stil med naturmaterialer og velvalgte rolige farver. Morgenbuffeten er lækker med gode råvarer og egne opskrifter på eksempelvis marmelader, og udtrykket er næsten kunstnerisk. Personalet er smilende og rolige, ja nærmest afslappede, så atmosfæren er fantastisk dejlig og afstressende. Vi elskede Skærgårdshotellet, og vi vil helt sikkert vælge samme sted en anden gang. 6 stjerner ud af 5!

Lite tråkigt välkomnande. Personalen verkade lite uttråkad, men det är slutet på säsongen så då kanske det blir så.
