The Clift Royal Sonesta San Francisco

The Clift is a SFO staple and despite Sonesta modernised it, it still has its charm. The building is historic, the rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are new, the staff is super friendly, the location is just off the Union Square.

The complimentary wifi was tad slow and couple of the conference calls had frozen image. I did not tried the paid wifi as I believe in a hotel like this, the high speed internet should be complimentary.

I got to the hotel via train and was early for the check-in time; however, the front staff led me check in because a room was available. The room was spacious and well-appointed. It's two door down from the theatre I went in the evening, so the location was perfect.

I wish they offer breakfast or evening cocktail hour.

Extremely large room, unusual for SF, clean, old but well-maintained building and hallways. Staff friendly and nothing less than professional.

Parking. I get that is is SF but if you charge me $750 for one night, I am going to expect a concession. the $40 parking fee at a local garage goes a long way and means people out of town have that reassurance and directions of where to go. If not from SF, this is a stressful item to work on. Also, the parking garage workers are not professional. Maybe partenring with a high end hotel will change that. For the large fee, some kind of breakfast should be on the hotel.
