The location was good. Breakfast was good - enough variety.

What I didn't like was the bathroom......It was tiny. I am referring to both the shower and the toilet. It was most uncomfortable and I believe it could have been planned better for all round comfort.

Great hotel, in the center of most activities and happenings. I love the pool area, and the restuarant has good food. All the staff are very friendly and professional.

Excellent location, friendly staff

We spent three nights at the PortsWood Hotel in Mid March. During this time, Cape Town had a significant heatwave so our experience at the hotel was heavily impacted by this. Without it, the hotel would rate a solid 4/5. Starting with the positives: - Location is fantastic, with easy access to the V&A Waterfront area which is a must visit and has lots of good places to eat - Staff are very friendly - Internet speeds are quite good - Rooms were clean although starting to show wear and tear - Breakfast selection was excellent, with plenty on offer Negatives: - Hotel does not cope well in significant heat! - Airconditioning in the rooms was very noisy and needed to be on 24/7 as it was not super effective - Depending on your room type, the aircon also prevents the curtains in your room from closing fully at night. While there are other blinds, they don't do a particularly good job at keeping the light out of the rooms. - 1 of the two rooms we had was very musty and you couldn't really open the room windows due to mosquitos - Lobby for whatever reason was not airconditioned which was less than ideal after long flights and waiting for rooms to be ready
